Parole or probation? There is a marked difference - they are not two words for the same thing.
How do you know he is a child molester? Is he on the registered sex offender list for the state? What was he originally charged with?
I would say call his probation or parole officer and have a talk with that person.
As to the more general concern: the FBI tells us that about 96% of crimes against children happen inside the home (i.e. not stranger danger) and that about 95% of persons convicted of sexual crimes against minors do not re-offend.
It's not the guy down the street you need to be so terribly concerned with, it's kindly Uncle Mike. Or your priest, or the kid's soccer coach, etc.

I don't know all of the legal things that you can and can't do in this situation but If I were you I would certainly contact the authorities and ask them what you can do. If you can get a restraining order on that horrible person then I would definitely do that. Other than that until the investigation is done you probably can't do very much. I would just keep a very close eye on the lady. Do not talk to her, look at her, or (of course) let your child be anywhere around her or her house. Do not let your child play outside unattended at all!!! That is a horrible person and I hope she gets what she deserves!! Good Luck!

Believe it or not, the distances most states have as boundaries for how far they can live from schools and daycares is measured in feet and yards, not blocks or miles. I know someone who lives in a neighborhood in FL full of registered repeat sex offenders, and even though there is a school right smack in the middle of this neighborhood, none of these guys are in violation of the law because the boundary line is so small.
Your local police probably have dealt with this question enough to tell you what the law says in your area.

Most states have a law that people that have been charged with child molestation or rap or even accused of it cannot live in a building with children or whithin like 4 blocks of a park or school. Look it up online. I dont know the exact number but Im sure you can find it and if not, call the police and they will help you.

I agree with MrKnowItAll. I used to live near my son's school. We had a molester literally around the corner from us. There were 10 within walking distance. One molester's back yard came up to the school property.

It IS your Business, and here in Ohio, they cannot live within so many feet of a school, playground, swimming pool, or day care center. Check with your local police. Here in Ohio, you can register on a site, and if one moves within a certain amount of miles from you, you get notified by email. You are smart for being concerned.

Do you know for fact that he is a child molester? If it is confirmed then he would have to be registered wouldn't he? I'd check it out and then would inform neighbours, school officials and definitely instruct my children to avoid that person at all cost.
That is so scary, I really feel for you in this situation.

In most states once you are released from jail for any kind of child abuse you are not to live with in 50 yards from a school.

Heh - want to see how many sexual predators are ALREADY living in your area? Check this site out...
http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/pages/neighborhoodSearch/Search_Neighborhood_Advanced.jsp
Just put in your address and select a radius and you will see how many are in your area.
Will they go after just one, especially one that was just released? NO! There are probably at LEAST several hundred in your area. It's a LOST CAUSE.
