Rod Stewarts new wife was born in 1971 while his daughter Kimberly was born in 1979. That's only an 8 year difference. I would hate that it's the thought of when I get older that if I am married my husband would leave me for a newer model.

I am in the same age group as my partner's children - between 40 and 50. At first they (and the whole community for that matter) were concerned - I got a lot of questions that barely skirted the "who are you and what are you doing to our elder statesman" question (he's in his later 70's)

But we persevered and now we're really pretty comfortable with each other. His elder daughter is the kind who needs to be needed - so I try really hard to let my partner "need" her to do this or that for him. His younger daughter has a son in Iraq and is also taking care of her handicapped son - so I send the soldier-grandson care packages. We make sure the kids get things from the garden, etc. etc. In general, we're in pretty good shape.

Unless your husband is as wealthy and famous as Rod Stewart, you have nothing to fear.
