i have 2 years left in my contract and am currently 9 months into a 15 month deployment

No...you have to finish your Active Duty time...then what ever is left of the 8 years you owe the Army can be spent in the IRR, Reserves, or NG...

Dude you have to wait when your done with the deployment. I remember when I was young like you and I wanted to go Airborne while still deployed, but my unit administrator said she couldn't do anything until after the deployment
Good Luck, but it's possible after you come back, just talk to a active duty recruiter.

Whether or not it is convenient, they have you under contract and by the ####s,
The army isn't like a civilian job where you can just walk away from something if it doesn't suit you.

N O!! You will have to complete your enlistment contract, receive your discharge and DD214, then you can join the Reserves!!

No you cannot. The Military owns you for a very long time.It used to be 10 years but i do not know now.i haven't ask my son,but i will.

yes you can if you have a good record and have perfect background my dad switched from active to reserves after he went to iraq and finished his full service there
