I can't find anywhere (even Microsoft!) that sells Vista online where you can download it from the UK.
Any ideas?

You DO NOT download Vista
Visit a local PCWORLD store or other computer shop and buy it in a box

Wait until after the bugs are sorted out. i.e the service pack is issued. expected spring 2008.
Ask yourself what can Vista do that my present OS can't, in reality it's very little. Save the cash.
Even better, spend it on a treat for your mum.

Thats were to buy it, you need:
* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 1 GB of system memory
* 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
o WDDM Driver
o 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
o Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
o 32 bits per pixel
* DVD-ROM drive
* Audio Output
* Internet access
It costs 160 dollers for Premium, around 90 pounds.
However, its probably better to buy a new PC with Vista

i do no longer think of those numbers for DSL are real. I downloaded the Beta and launch applicants and that they did no longer take that long. i think of on my 6Mbit DSL they took approximately 40 5 minutes.

you can't download it from anywhere. First its too bit. its a 4gb program. You can buy it online but will need to wait until you get it shipped to you.
