if it ain't registered, keep it off the roads
but i'm one to talk: a number of years ago, i drove an unregistered and uninsured vehicle for over a year!
just look confident when passing police vehicles on the highway.

They can in California... or they can simply take it out of your checking/savings account..

I had that happen on an old motorcycle that I had junked ... I ignored the DMV letters figuring it would just fall off the edge.

Nope.. about 6 months latter my bank sent me a letter saying that it had debited me the charges (plus the bank charge).

Check with your state to see if the same process is in place to avoid that happy surprise.

I don't think so. They might assume you got rid of the car. If you don't pay up, your car is not registered and illegal to take on the road.

Never seen it done. It's either registered and legal or it's not and they don't really care.

Positively not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They can however fail to renew your license and/or suspend it altogether.
