It's safe to assume that at least 95% of us that are Anti-Illegal immigrant are not opposed to Legal Immigration. Are those that can't tell the difference just trying to be nincompoops or are they actually so stupid that they're incapable of seeing the obvious difference?

Samantha you need to look up the word racist hun, then show me where being Mexican, Hispanic or Latino is a race.
Being Latino etc.. is an ethnicity NOT A RACE ergo unless the people who are opposed to the Mexican immigrants are Black or Asian it's incorrect to call them Racist.

Dave you are welcome. I must admit that I am slightly offened that you labeled me as a Racist because I'm an Anti-Illegal. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I spent most of my life with in 10-50 miles of the Mexican border, I am of mixed heritage myself and I am married to woman of a different race than myself.

David, unless the science has changed since my Anthropology courses there are only 3 races. Those are Mongoloid, ******* and Caucazoid, no where have I seen science list Hispanic or Latino as a race.

Like most liberals, they don't care to differentiate....AND they are too stupid to realize the difference.
Really though, there is a BIG difference. As you mentioned most people are perfectly fine with legal immigration, but are pissed when blatant law breakers are not punished, and are even rewarded, while we sit by and pay our taxes and parking tickets..

I understand your point and your questions, but some people make it about race and other issues. Yes it may be cut and dry to most but to others it isn't, and that's where the debate comes in. I am more on the side with illegals and I admit it. Here is why: I am married to an illegal immigrant from Mexico. She was brought here when she was a child and had no choice. Is it her fault? I don't think it is. Others will disagree with me, and that's fine. I have always felt the way I do even before I was married to her. Since I was born and raised in ghetto in Detroit I was always brought up to treat people the same, so I never really cared how someone got here, what color they were or anything as long as they are kind hearted. I admit that I feel that people that do HARDCORE crimes such as murder, drug smuggling, raping and the like should be jailed or deported or whatever. It gets me when people say that ALL illegal immigrants are like that because they are not. NOT ONE person in my wife's family smuggles drugs or kills people or anything like that. Their only crime is overstaying a visa or crossing a border. They all work (very hard also) they pay taxes and they get treated like crap because their employers know they cannot do anything about it. Do I expect people to change their veiws and beliefs for me... Not at all. I just wish some people would see the reality of the whole picture sometimes, but I know they wont. Where I live... Hispanic = illegal alien and that my friend is racism.

Put me into your 95%! If people can come here the CORRECT and LEGAL way, there should be no problems. I just have a hard time with people breaking the law by ILLEGALLY entering our country and taking LEGAL citizens' tax money. It's disgusting that illegals can get free food, clothes, housing and tons of other stuff when even our SOLDIERS live below the poverty line. Makes me angry!!!!

They know the difference, but they want to obfuscate the issue by trying to confuse legal immigrants and their issues with those of illegal aliens.
Immigrants have enhanced America. Immigrants and illegal aliens are neither inherently good nor inherently bad. Legal immigrants come to America with the explicit approval of Congress and thus all Americans. Illegal aliens come here with an implicit 'blind eye' approval. Thus, illegal immigration problems are due essentially to inaction of Congress, law enforcement, and ultimately American citizens. To fix our dysfunctional immigration system, Americans need to educate and change legal, political, educational, environmental, labor and religious institutions. Over-immigration is not inevitable nor is the doubling of U.S. population this century that it will cause.
Legal immigrants deserve respect. Illegal aliens are law breakers who do not deserve jobs, amnesty, educational subsidies, driver's licenses, and other benefits at the expense of U.S. taxpayers. Illegal aliens first should be encouraged to Go Home voluntarily and then humanely deported as the law requires. Once the public recognizes that jobs and benefits equal encouragement the public will truly press for the flow to cease. Amnesties for illegal aliens have clearly made the problem worse and should be vigorously opposed.

They don't understand NO. Or a ton of other basic words. It's much easier to cloud the issue than to deal with what it actually is. It's not that complicated of a deal when all of the junk is tossed aside. The only thing that would change my attitude at all is finding out a major piece to this puzzel that they (whoever that is) has been keeping secret from both sides and blowing the socks off the real agenda. There's a difference....any person with 2 functioning brain cells knows that. I even "understand" and feel bad for alot of the various situations.....still doesn't change things though.

If you read the mainstream newspapers and listen to some TV channels they are also incapable of making that distinction. Quite a few people just parrot what they read in the paper and think they are smart on current events, but are just repeating propaganda.
But screaming that legal is okay is precisely why they keep trying to pass an amnesty. They think if they make them all legal everyone will shut up.

Most of the people on this board who complain about this stuff are illegals. I've seen many Mexican Americans here who are against the illegals in America. I stand with them. The illegals are doing their best to give all immigrants a bad name. I welcome all legal immigrants, it's just the illegal ones I have the problem with.

It isn't that they can't tell the difference. It is that they want to cloud the issue. I don't know why, instead of trying to justify illegal immigration, they just don't find a way to make immigration more accessable. Until they do though, it should be the same jumps and hoops for everyone.

Some people intentionally say "immigration" without specifying the difference in an attempt to make those of us who want laws enforced look bad.
Of course we're all for legal immigration - that is what has made this country great, and where most of us trace our roots. I warmly welcome anyone who comes here the right way!
