Sorry everyone…another Jr question.
So it’s official - he’s with a new team and he’s got new resources, all in the name of winning a championship. And Tony Eury Jr is following him to HMS. We’ve heard ol’ D.W. talk about how important it is for a crew chief and a driver to be compatible, obviously the two are comfortable with each other. But is Eury Jr a championship caliber crew chief? (why/why not?)

They are perhaps too comfortable with each other. Jr negotiated the right to bring Tony Jr with him and it was not a good decision in my opinion. Alan Gustafson is a better crew chief and Jr might have actually listened to him. It seems like Tony Eury Jr backs down a lot, leaving Jr to get his way. It would have been best for him to give the personnel at HMS a chance to see if they clique and maybe learn something new in the process. A driver has to have confidence in and trust the decisions the crew chief makes and not dictate all the changes to the car and race strategies.

Curious to see what he would have done with a new crew chief but again I'm glad to see Tony Sr and Tony Jr there. This opens new doors for the whole JR Motorsports organization. This also benefits Tony Sr and Tony Jr and let them know the difference in the DEI equipment and the HMS equipment.
As far as Tony Jr being a championship caliber crew chief I believe his job has just got a whole lot easier. I mean with those DEI cars I am sure he had to figure out a lot of little tricks to make those things faster. Now that he has better equipment and he has that previous knowledge then add the 2 together and it should make for a good combination.
I believe the HMS technology can make any crew chief look good.

Jr. won 6 races in one year with out tony as crew chief .Yes Tony and Jr.are a good match.Tony understands what Jr. means when he says my car is loose ,need more forward bite coming off of turn 2 etc.
They might not get a championship in 08 but 09 will be a run to watch.
I will be a Jr. fan no matter what #car he drives or who he drives for .

I think he should have taken Kyle Bushs crew cheif Alan Gustafson. He is familiar with HMS operations, equipment and the way they do things. You can hear Jr and Tony Eury constantly arguing from pit road to car on the scanners. If making a new change why not make it a complete change and start fresh.

I had my doubts in the beginning, If Tony Jr can become as great as the other crew chiefs at HMS, there should be no problem, it is very important that the driver and crew chief be compatible.. We will all find out next yr for sure..I'm hoping for the best..for Tony Jr in 2008..

You know that's a good question, I have a few thoughts on that. Why wouldn't Jr. wanna start fresh? Jr. is a very intelligent man he obviously knows more than we do, He must think that it's the equipment at DEI and not the crew chief, or his smarts, I guess time will tell, well see what happens!

I would have liked to see him with a new crew chief. I believe he is too comfortable with Eury. I wished he had started with a clean slate!
The 88 National Guard and 88 Amp cars look great!

No wins in 2 years and you think he's still a good crew chief? I think Dale would have been better off with a different crew chief, but Hendrick will school the crap out of Eury.

No,Tony Eury Jr. did fine and it is his cousin and he respects and trusts him.I think Eury Jr. can win a championship if they had the right resources.I think it will be Jr's yr to shine next yr..so why not have Eury Jr. as his crew chief?

i do no longer see it making any genuine distinction. i understand Dale Jr. is a minimum of an established driver and could be doing greater effective than he's now! This pass to HMS has to have been a humiliation and a real permit all the way down to Dale Jr. If we in basic terms knew, for helpful, whilst Dale Jr.'s settlement exchange into up with Hendrick that would let us know lots. interior the final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of his settlement HMS will make helpful that he does greater effective than he has been doing. i understand Slick Rick will throw Dale Jr. a carrot to maintain his share of merchandise revenues coming in. I consider ChevyPri approximately him getting thoroughly removed from HMS. he's getting used for his call and the money that call generates.
