I got a kitten about 1 month ago, and I'm not sure if this is just a stage but for a while he's been really playful and he keeps biteing me and he's been biteing hard, and I hit him (not too hard or anything) and/or squirt him with water but he still does it. My other cats I've had sense they were babies didn't do this according to my memory, anyone know if this is just a stage and if he'll grow out of it or is it a problem?

Definitely not viscious, just playing. All cats are different, but most kittens that are healthy and happy are really playful. Don't hit him it will not help and it might make him hate you.

You need to schedule a couple playtimes a day to help him work off all his energy and aggressions.

Start learning about how to stop him from biting the right way. He may stop biting somewhat as he gets older or he may turn into a little terror. You need to correct his behavior starting right now. Here's some really good articles for you:

Whether your kitty grows out of this stage is pretty much up to you and your willingness to curb the bad behavior or continue to encourage it. It is normal for kittens to mouth and test, much like a teething baby. Biting hard isn't acceptable and should be stopped as quickly as possible before his adult teeth start growing.

I suggest you use a clicker for audio distraction when he starts biting too hard. Also, stop playing with him when he bites. Continuing the play tells him that you approve of his behavior and encourage him to get even rougher.

well it is just a phase that all cats go through (he may be teething or learning how to play) HOWEVER unless you respond to his biting the right way, he could become vicious and the biting may never stop:
spanking a cat or spraying him with water will only make him mad, and make him act out against you
by doing these things you could be hindering the bonding process and causing him to develop serious behavioral issues
here are a couple links which I feel might help you:
what to do when your kitty plays to rough, article:

you may want to try toys which put space between your hands and his mouth, like a feather on the end of a stick, and when he shows that he is not happy, like when his tail starts to wag, then you may just want to walk away so he can calm down.
good luck!

It's a stage and they stay in it till they're usually 8 months old, at least ours did.

He's not vicious, he's playing 'hard'. Don't let him use your hands as toys. If he grabs them, get your hands away from him and use a distance toy he can rip at like a cat dancer or a stuffed toy. The more you use your hands where he can grab and bite, the less likely he's going to stop.

Don;t worry too much about it...he is teething and plus kittens are nuts anyways. Give him some big suffed animals or the last bit of paper towel roll to bite and chew and scratch. It will eventaully pass and he will get lazy like most (if not all) older cats do.

Biting and clawing is playing if you are a cat.

Your new one just has exceptionally developed "hunting" instincts.

Like Great Cats, domestic cats learn to subdue and kill their prey by playing out the behavior as kittens. You cat's instincts don't know that he's going to be fed tender vittles out of a bowl instead of having to hunt and kill his meals.

Once he's mature, he'll slow down, get comfy and just eat, sleep, poop and lick himself all day. Not necessarily in That Order, though...

my two cat get in these moods where they are really playful and if you reach down to touch them they will grab your arm and bite. My one cat is 2 and the other is 7 months. Hard to say if it's something that will pass but our 13 year old doesn't do it.

Yes he is teething. He will gro out of it once he matures. Hes just like a little kid, hyper, full of energy, and does'nt know right from wrong. I don't recomend hitting him, i recomend scolding him. When he bites you, grab him gently by the scruff and tell him no.

Cats and kittens bite to show their affection. Seriously. They scratch when they are pissed.
