My husband recieved a letter in the mail regarding his blood test results. The results said he has burr cells--abnormal red blood cells +1. What does that mean? We don't have any medical insurance so we can't just go and ask a Dr. He took the medical exam for a job and now he is very worried. Any information will help. Thanks!

Burr cells are blood cells shaped like a helmet. They are indicative of small blood vessel disorders. These disorders can range from minor to quite serious. I suggest that your husband get checked out as soon as he has a job/insurance or that he finds a local free medical clinic for further evaluation. It is always better to be safe.
