Spybot is an anti-spyware application. It seldom picks up trojans or viruses unless they are related to spyware.

As for free anti-spyware, anti-adware, and anti-virus programs being as good as the purchased one, this is a false conception.

You do not have support with the free programs. Read their fine print and disclaimers.

I have tried free anti-spyware, anti-adware, and anti-virus programs on computers with problems first as a test.

They did find some of the spyware, adware, and viruses.

I then removed them and install purchased ones.

They left about 130 Adware and spyware apps on the computer.

They also left about 10 trojans, and about 15 viruses and a few keyloggers and rootkits.

There were some trojans and viruses they could not remove. I sent the files to the programs developer and within hours they sent back updates to the data files to remove these.

You do not get this type of support with free anti-spyware, anti-adware, and anti-virus programs.

Good Luck.

The usual reason 'pay for' programs say you have a trojan etc, is what's called a false positive. In other words, they're trying to scare you into buying their product.

Free programs like Spybot don't have to coerce you into buying, so they won't report something that isn't there!

Free programs are ,on the whole, as good or even better than ones you have to shell out for. :)

Superantispyware removed a bad trojan and a nagging spyware from my computer. If its there, Superantispyware will get rid of it.

thats because spybot is just not detecting what the other program is. Get rid of those and just get Superantispyware, which is the best FREE scanner out there. Will find everything. www.superantispyware.com
