Just as an experiment, try denying that computers exist. Try denying that electricity powers homes all across America. Try believing that your car has tiny horses in it that need to be fed hay every couple hours in order for it to run.
You can't do it, can you? Your mind knows that these things are not true, so no matter how much you try to convince yourself, you know you're just playing make-believe. So what do you say to your friend that actually believes those things are true, and keeps trying to convince you of the same?
Well, same thing goes for most atheists and religion. After considering it, and doing the necessary research, many of us can't believe in gods any more than you can believe there's a boogey man living under your bed that eats your belly lint while you're sleeping and will kill you if you wake up and see him.
Now, can you honestly say that we all choose not to believe, or can you understand that for some of us, it just isn't possible?

Well said. :)
vern7us, children grow up and learn to stop believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Christians refuse to stop believing in their god. They vote and make decisions that affect all of our lives based on their belief in this god. No one's belief in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny has any kind of negative impact on my life or yours. You have now been educated on the difference.

Ha! Are those lightning bolts aimed at your head imaginary? Oh, not now of course, you're looking around, expecting them. No, not now, but someday, when you least expect, God's wrath will descend upon you, suddenly, cataclysmically, yet subtly, so you won't be able to tell whether it was random chance or intentional. That's how faith works, you know: you're never sure if it's personal or not. As for myself, I don't rely on the big, secular power companies. I get my power from my own home wall socket, just like God intended.
(Hmph! Belly lint "man"! Everyone knows they're aphids.)

No, I can't honestly say I'm any more able to believe in gods as I am able to believe in the Boogey Man or the tiny car-horses.

each physique is born an atheist. Then they are taught and indoctrinated in believes and faiths or in spite of. they might or will possibly no longer have decision in this as a baby counting on guy or woman situation. because of the fact the guy gets older and greater autonomous they might receive a level of decision. some have plenty some merely approximately none counting on their degree of indoctrination, cultural pressures and private intelligence and cognitive skills. they may be waiting to choose on faith or atheism independently at this factor. no longer each physique reaches this point and that they settle with their youthful programming. for this reason atheist tend to have a severe frequently used intelligence. they might desire to make it this some distance to choose on. it particularly is to no longer say that each physique who makes it this some distance or has a severe intelligence chooses atheism. merely that they attain the factor of decision.

What are you talking about? Computers do no exist! And what do you think pulls your car? Surely it can't run by itself, of course there are horses in your car! There are so many evidence, you just don't want to see it, or do u say your car evolved from monkeys? Then how come there are still monkes?

further more, if you were taught from birth that there were little horses eating hay in the car, but that if you questioned it, they would disappear and the car wouldn't run and mom and dad couldn't get you to hockey practice, then you would just go on believing, because you had to. but, if you looked under the hood and saw an engine instead, you would know for yourself that they don't exist.

Excellent point - not much of a question but excellent point. The video linked below shows how you can apply Christian logic to worship a jug of milk - honest that's what it says. Its serious and sincere and Christians should watch it if only to better understand the atheist point of view.
