The two great commandments are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbor like we love ourselves, yet most are so self centered that they are incapable of love. Jesus said “Judge not, that ye be not judged,” in Mat 7:1, yet people are judged all the time.
He also said “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” in John 3:17, but people want to condemn more than they want to lead to the savior.
What’s up with that? Do we not realize that we were all dead in our sins, yet God had mercy on us? Should we not also show mercy?

OK, so some of you have a problem with the 80% figure. I thought that I would give some grace here.
Actually, I was looking at “properly” as a relative term.

If more people followed those commandments, I'd think much more highly of Christianity.
Instead, you'll get people dodging it and saying things like "We're all sinners." Yeah, whatever. You go ahead and justify your little hypocrisies that way.

Yes, you are correct. And I may add on if you dont mind. PPL also get so into the teachings of man and churches, and not into the full teachings of God in the Holy Bible. Things can become a manmade doctrime, or a habit, or just what they have alwys believed and done. and few will question if changes need to be made, and yet many will accept any new change that comes in. We must look at these things, but only accordin to the word of God. Some traditiions need to stay as they are Gods word, and some need to go. I have seen churches split over the color of the carpet. We all have seen such stuff that have been in church awhile. The answer is not to leave church, unless the Spirit of God has called you to leave. But, we are to stay in church, allowing God to show us truths from His word and divine revelation that always line up with His truth, and be sure the church continues to represent Jesus Chiist. Many say they are Christian today, but if you ask they dont even believe in Jesus, let alone obey Him. Labels are lables and judging is judging. But sin is still sin, we need to know what it is and obey God as He commands us to do, but only by His teachings in THe Bible, not by the teachings of man. We are to live truth and speak it boldly, but also humbley, done in love and without judgment and condemnation. We will never do this right, until we know who Jesus is and who we are in Christ and then tap in the Holy Spirit that gives us power to overcome and do it all Gods way and not our own. Yes, we should show love and mercy, yet still speak Gods total truth. IF we cant speak it in mercy and love, then we must remain silent until we can.Great question. So many have left churches today due to all the stuff that come in and the attitudes of so many ppl that are cruel and judgmental. We must realize we all learn at different times. There are baby Chrsitians and mature Chriistians. We are to love one another, encourage one another in all the truths of God. Do we run and hand the church over to those that wont obey and hear Gods truths/? Or Does God call us to stay and be the one that makes a difference? I say are we part of the problem or part of the solution. Ask God to show you what to do and HE will, every time.
God bless you for another great question... Let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truths.

To Jeddi Master: I have this to say about Jesus name not beging immanuel. Immanuel means "God with us." The Jews were not expecting the Messiah to be God him self so this was a warning to those who were paying atention. That God was coming and would be salvation. Jesus name meant "Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins" (Matt. 1:21). The word "Jesus" means "Jehovah is salvation." So you see God was coming for a purpose and his purpose was salvation from the trap (Sin or separation from God) laid for us in the Garden. Also read first John 1st chapter to understand how Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. Also look into the bible on John 10:30 where Jesus says he and his father are one. Look at Mark 12:35-37 as Jesus reveals how David could call the Messiah Lord and yet the Messiah be his son. Jesus fit that riddle. Also read Mark 14:62-64 where Jesus says I am: The I am is the beginning and the end the alpha and omega. The Jew leaders of the time understood what he was saying and wanted to kill him because it was considered to them blasphemy. But it was the truth.
Now about the % of who and who do not represent God and Jesus. That is a constantly changing variable. Even some very good Christians are not always representing Christ. That is when later they repent to God and those individuals they infringed upon. And a good Christian forgives the same as God has forgiven their sins. A good christian is your average person who is learning. So not every Christian is on even keel. Some are ahead of their brothers and sisters while others may be behind. In all relgions this will be true and everyone makes mistakes as its human nature. The question is do we want to change or not. This is repentance. Jesus was calling people to repent and change their ways. He wanted to know the state of their heart or desire. Did they desire to be like his father (righesousness, peace, love, justice, help for the needy, spend time the sick in spirit) or did they desire their lusts more (selfishness, hate, condemn others by the law and then be imperfect them selves, lovers of injustice or revenge, care less for their brothers well being to satisfy them selves.) And by his Holy Ghost and Relationship with God he empowers them to make that change but they have to want it or all they will natualy server their lusts and of course some good. Its our imperfect nature that determines we need Gods forgiveness but if we reject his method of giving it out then we reject his salvation. Ultimately this is what makes the final decision and God is the ultimate judge in the end.

Not only all that, but I heard a preacher totally condemn beer and other strong drink, but not say too much about wine. Alcohol, after all is a God given product of natural fermintation. I agree that it can be abused, then so can bread, pasta, beans, and meats be eaten to a gluttonous pitch. When he preaches an agenda of his own, or the accepted position of the church's doctrine, he is in error and not 100% christain. As you know Christ turned water into wine (excellent wine) not grape juice, and this was his first bible recorded miracle. This may be why he did not mention wine in his strong verbal conemnation.

There is no one perfect in this mortal world.
There is only One Church.... I would place the % of those who claim the title of Christian who are actualy of The Church at not more than 20%... and likely less. Of those, how many live up to the full level of The Great Commandment?... not one... some do better than others... but no mortal has ever met the full level of commitment... Praise God for His Mercy...That Salvation is not based on how well one lives up to The Great Commandment... or no one would make it to Heaven... Not even one of The True Christian Faith(The Church) properly represents Christ.
Those who only think they are Christians will find that they will be left behind... Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.

I couldn't agree with you more.
I'm a christian. My 3 best friends..
Friend number one. Doesn't know what she believes.. Never been a christian, drinks, smokes, has sex with her bf everynight.. etc. I love her to bits! Been besties with her for 8 years.
Friend number 2 and 3 are a couple, christians.. but not like they used to be. They swear heaps.. and don't call themselves christians anymore but still believe in God.. Just annoyed with the "80%".. and I'm exactly the same.. I can't stand the 80% who are so UNchristian!
My church is soo good, I used to go to AOG, really controlling, horrible people.. they tried breaking me and my bf up (he's not my bf anymore), they failed miserably and we broke up half a year later when it was OUR time to break up, not their time.
My current church is brilliant, they don't believe in control or being forceful, they let me go hang out with the boys and trust that we're not having sex.. like the AOG used to think. The AOG accuses us all of having threesomes with each other.. and says we're lying if we say it's not true.. It's DEFINITELY not true by the way lol..
But yes.. Lots of christians have it wrong.

Yes, this is a sad but true fact of reality. We really should show more mercy and godly kindness to one another. We really should fully realize just how much mercy God has shed upon us. We should not condemn others but be willing to share God's awesome message of love, forgiveness and mercy as well as salvation.

Prophecies to Identify the Messiah, Which Jesus Does Not Fulfill:
1) Matthew 1:23 says that Jesus (the messiah) would be called Immanuel, which means "God with us." Yet no one, not even his parents, call him Immanuel at any point in the bible.
2) The Messiah must be a physical descendant of David (Romans 1:3 & Acts 2:30). Yet, how could Jesus meet this requirement since his genealogies in Matthew 1 and Luke 3 show he descended from David through Joseph, who was not his natural father because of the Virgin Birth. Hence, this prophecy could not have been fulfilled.
3) Isaiah 7:16 seems to say that before Jesus had reached the age of maturity, both of the Jewish countries would be destroyed. Yet there is no mention of this prophecy being fulfilled in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus, hence this is another Messiah prophecy not fulfilled.

80% of all statistics are lies - or at least just wild azz guesses.
Its a good argument for atheism - so many contradictory Christian viewpoints. What good is a religion if its followers vary so much in what they believe about it. Just a few contradictions in how we practice Chrisitianity:
Jesus loved sinners and hung around with them - gays are sinners (so the logic goes) so we should not associate with them
God ordered destruction and killing of many cities (lots of references available) and then says "Thou shalt not kill"
Love thy neighbour - the biggest argument against interracial marriage came from religious groups who are also the biggest gay bashers
God: "Honour thy mother and father"; Jesus "Unless you hate your mother and father you cannot follow me"
Paul: Christians can eat all foods, there is no more unlcean food; Catholic Church - "Eat fish on Fridays and no other meat"
