DON'T even think about doing this at least not directly. The biggest reason is that once you give them access to any account such as a checking or credit card you are opening yourself up to problems. Such as having them charge additional payments that you did not authorize. If you must do this, get a Cash Advance on your credit card and pay them through a Money Order.

Some agencies will say they only accept payments through a checking account. If this is what yours is doing, let them know you do not have a checking account any more and can only do it through other ways. Such as Money Orders or Western Union.

Also, one other thing is that before you send the Collection Agency ANY money be sure to have the agreement from them in writting. Do not take anything they promise over the phone as fact.

Of course. Teh'll take money anyway they can get it. But don't do it. Think of how much interest you'd be paying on your credit card, compared to how much you'd be paying to the collection agency. They will want you to pay it off ASAP. They'll ask you to approach family and friends to borrow money. However, they have to offer some sort of reasonable payment plan. Don't let them bully you with threats of lawsuits. They can't take you to court unless you refuse to pay. As long as you come up with a reasonable plan, that you can afford, they'll have little option. There are laws concerning collection agencies and their conduct. Do a search and educate yourself; Know your rights before agreeing to anything.

The answer is "yes". I have paid a couple of collection agency with a credit card. It just depends on the company. Should should ask them. Also, don't forget to follow-up once you have paid to get a letter from them saying you have paid. And follow-up with them to make sure they report that you have paid to the 3 credit bureau to change the status on your credit report.

you can but it is a very bad idea you are agreeing to pay credit card fees and interest on the money including late fees and penalties that you already owe. very expensive. if you intend to pay this debt start bargining hard with them, if this is one of the agencies that buy up bad debts at a steep discount you can reach a negotiatd settlement for less than you owe. and get a payment plan .
