I agree with your mother, don't use dyes or perfumes or anything fragrant. I was VERY sensitive to salt water and all soaps when i was younger, especially in the private area!
My son was the same till he was about 3 or 4. I always had to buy Non-fragrant everything he couldn't use name brand diapers cause the all had fragrance! My best advice would be to look on the back of the bottle and then compare it to other products that you have used before that didn't bother him and see what is different between the two and narrow it down to a couple of ingredients then look those ingredients up and see if the say anything about what happen to your baby...Or just don't use anything with those ingredients! Good Luck! I MISS THOSE DAYS

The only thing I can use in my girls bath is the Johnson and Johnson Moisturizing Baby bath, none of the other ones or they get very irritated in their private areas as well. You can just use one capful rather than 3.
But the best products I have found for my kids are Aveeno, it is the only kind of lotion that does not bother their skin either and I know they make bath wash too.

helpful! some little ones are comfortable to distinctive perfumes, dyes, or perhaps the content cloth of the product. merely stop using the product, this is not any enormous deal. as far as being irritable ever in view that, i do no longer think of this is the infant product. it must be teething, he could have a sprint virus or no longer sense nicely. A topical infant product would not reason long term reactions in case you stop using it. If I had to place it on something, i could say the teething.

My son has EXTREMELY sensitive skin so I have to be VERY careful what I use. I have to use bath products for sensitive skin, dye and perfume free laundry soap, lotion made for sensitive skin, etc. I accidently bought regular baby wipes once instead of the scent free and within a few hours he was scratching everywhere.

Regular Johnson's baby wash gave my son small bumps on his back when he was a newborn. We switched to unscented and it was fine. I think the nighttime stuff has lavender in it, doesn't it? Anything with lavender irritates my own skin, so I personally avoid it.
We use dye & fragrance free everything: wipes, laundry soap, dryer sheets, baby wash... doesn't cost any extra and why add that extra stuff anyway?

yes i sympatise with you. i am a mother of thre children , on my first child i used johnsonns all the time and he was fine. when my second child was born ahe had sensitive skin when she was born so i just used silcox base all the time. any way when it came to my third child, i thought i was the expert and used johnsonns all the time.to my horror the baby bath left him red and itchy and the shampoo ruined his scalp.I was later told by a dermatologist and a professor that johnsonns contained more chemicals than any other product to keep away from it. after that he was fine . to this day i use silcox base to wash my children and zinc and castor oil to moisturise their skin. they all have beautiful skin. hope this helps good luck

Maybe its the product. Some babies get irritated by certain stuffs. You need to check the doctor before something else comes up.

My daughter can use most johnsons and johnsons products, but when she was around your sons age, I couldn't use babymagic products, she is 2 1/2 now and it dosent seem to bother her skin now.

I had an experence like that with my son on certain products like that. I had to chance to dye free-fragrance free for him-including clothes detergents and even some diaper brands.

It may be because of teething or since your skin is more sensitive there it may have irritated him. I would stop using it then maybe try again once he has finished teething to see if it makes a difference.
