No don't pretend, eventually you will resent the farce and become bitter to all thing having to do with religion. You said you searched your soul for God, which god? Maybe the Christan god is not your god. I to felt no particular connection to J.C and his boys. I looked into other religions and spiritual paths, and I eventually found one that worked for me. I found A god, or in my case a Pantheon on gods and a path that I could believe in. You are not alone, don't force yourself into something that dose not work for you. Eventually you will find your place, I think we as people have a need to belong,to seek out others that hold are same beliefs. Just little advice, If you find a god that works for you, and it is not Jesus keep this knowledge privileged. Unfortunately people are not very tolerant when it come to diverse religious beliefs. If you look around and still don't find a god that's OK .

I would not want a world with out God.
I been searching for months and will not stop. The journey has taken me to some great places and some wildly nice things have happened since the search. I even got into some people that are heavily against the bible, I held no judgment and at the end of or conversations as we discussed the world and the bible they said that most people who believe in the bible are not as in lightened as I am. The only reason I bring this up is even if you don't at first find God I would not stop. Things happen and your core of self being is brought up and made stronger in so many was. Life seems better as well the codes of conduct in the bible are second to none. Remember that something worth getting is never easy but once you get your treasure that was hard to come by you will enjoy it so much more.
Good Luck and never give up the search it's more the worth it!

Do not, under any circumstances, pretend to believe.
However, searching your soul is not where to look.
Acts 17:26 says something interesting:
"God made out of one man, every nation of men, for them to seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us."
You simply haven't finished your search.
God appreciates your searching and will make your way successful.
Perhaps by having a representative of the Bible knock on your door.

Not at all. God knows our hearts. Pretending won't fool Him, and it won't help you out at all. If you are truly wanting to find God, you need to keep searching for Him, praying that He will make Himself known to you and you will find the faith you need, and study the Bible. It will happen for you.

I don't think you can pretend to believe--deep down, you'd still know you didn't quite buy it.

Find what you really do believe, and follow that.

No, you can't pretend or force yourself to believe. You either do or you don't.

Only if you have no self respect.
Theres absolutely nothing wrong with coming to the conclusion that there is no god.
