Well it will be good for America to become part of Canada. Although I think that Canada will be the worse for the deal trying to teach all those new Canadians how to use "eh" properly, to say zed not zee and lastly to pronounce the letter O properly and not give it an "aw" sound.

I'd be worried about the huge deficit that we would have to assume when the States became part of Canada all those trillions of dollars

Here's a more likely scenario for you...

Sometime in the not so distant future, the U.S.A. will crumble. Think about it.

Your national debt is now beyond the point of all hope. If every single penny of your gross domestic product went to the U.S. national debt, which is a totally impossible scenario, you wouldn't even be able to pay the interest, and the deficit would still be growing at an incredible rate.

You buy way more foreign goods than you manufacture. This is a big part of why the debt is accumulating. The money you pay for these foreign goods is with the U.S. federal reserve dollar, not U.S. treasury dollars. A federal reserve note is not actually a dollar, but your government's PROMISE to pay one dollar. That is why it says "Federal Reserve Note" on your money instead of "U.S. Treasury Note".

The federal reserve has been bankrupt for decades. The only american money that is actually backed up by the treasury is the coins. There aren't nearly enough coins to back up the paper money, hence further debt. That's why the Canadian Dollar is gaining so much strength... because it's actually a dollar that is backed up by the commodities and precious metals owned by Canada. It's not a promise to pay.

Your creditors have been getting progressively more nervous for a long time now and sooner or later they are going to want to collect. What exactly is the U.S. going to do when that day comes and their dollar is worthless? They will have no choice but to give resources and commodities in lieu of money.

America the Great will be stripped buy the several thousand countries, banks, firms, companies, and even private individuals it owes money to, and Canada will be right there collecting it's few trillion dollars worth. After that's all done, you will be begging Canada to adopt you, with our powerhouse economy and vast resources. We would be your only hope and you will be completely and utterly at our mercy.

You might want to start teaching your kids French... it's going to be one of your official languages one day too.

Forget the wars you LOST in Afghanistan and Iraq - and the future wars you are about to lose in Iran and North Korea (Which probably means China too), AMERICA'S WORST ENEMY IS AMERICA ITSELF.

Never gonna happen. Why would we want to join america? It's sooooooo crappy there. We have everything in Canada, that is why Bush wants that whole idiotic North American Union thing. The states would benefit so much if they became more Canadian, that I will not deny and so therefore I do not blame the asker for wanting such a thing. But...I think that most Canadians like being Canadian...if we wanted to be American...we'd drink a pail of lead paint so that our mental capabilities were up to American standards.

No thanks your economy is headed for the toilet, and Cdns will NEVER EVER agree to join the US. We might take over some of the states that would like to leave the US and become Canadian. So keep on living in a dream world, or wake up and educate yourself -

Its amusing how you Americans think we Canadians want to join the US, would ever join the US, somehow are jealous of the mess south of the border -

The world respects and likes Canada and Canadians

I don't think it will. Most likely Puerto Rico will join the US. First of all, Canada is in the British Commonwealth an the two nations are quite different to each other an many Americans thankfully realise that, although you obviously do not.

I'd rather die for my country's sovereignty than join the states and I think the majority of Canadians feel that way.
It truly amazes me that Americans think we want to be like them. You are not the envy of the world.
Did you know that when Americans and Canadians do war games we kick your butts every time. Ha, ha.

Hahahahahahaha...that's what I have to say about that question... Americans (or at least people who think up this question) must feel insecure if they feel that they need THE most amazing, wonderful, interesting, safe, ect ect country in the world to join their country.

I completely understand why Americans would want Canada to join them as we have SOOO much to offer. But the great thing about Canada is that we are a sovereign country. A unique country with wonderful colours and flavours (literally and figuratively)-a country that loves to share our wonders with the rest of the world. We love it when people come to visit (used to love Americans bringing their dough, but now we are on top of the dollar...waahahaha)....haha...

THE ONLY reason I would join the military would be if we had to fight the usa off...and I think that that's how a lot of Canadians feel....

Anywho, I enjoy Americans coming to visit, and I enjoy travelling down to the usa to visit and explore, but I am VERY proud to travel with the Canadian flag on my backpack, and would not change that for anything!!!!!!!!!!
Peace and Love

The same as I think about America joining Canada...If we had the freedom to go from country to country to work, live, vacation with a par dollar (which it is now), a set of laws that dictate to both sides of the borders, people would automatically find their pecking order and preference and we would all be much better off, and it would be cheaper on all of us....the borders cost a fortune to man...this would be for North America only......but it is only a dream

The day this occurs is the day I start assassinating the US leadership (working my way down the chain of "inheretance" of the Presidency) until one of them cedes all Canadian Territories back to the Sovereign Dominion of Canada.

:P

Vive La Belle Canadien!

EDIT:
PS: War Games - 1 Battalion of Canadian Regular Infantry vs.
1 Battallion of US Infantry
1 Company of US Armour
1 Company of US Air

Winner: Canada, every time...after all, who do you think trains US Green Barets? The Canadian Forces.

That's never gonna happen, because Canadians are too proud. Canada would never elect someone into power who would even remotely, subconsciously in their sleep consider doing this.
