Your body is always burning calories. Your 'basal metabolic rate' is the amount of energy that you burn at rest just to keep yourself alive (breathing, producing heat, pumping blood, replacing parts etc).
Standing requires a little more muscular action than sitting or lying down, but not much. (ie - you burn slightly more calories by standing but its not likely to be significant)
Movement is the best way to increase the number of calories burnt and to improve your musculature, bone density and heart and lung function.
Walk to where you are going instead of taking the bus or if its a long way just get off a stop or two early and then slowly increase the distance walked. You WILL notice results if you do this.

if you are serious about losing weight then dont just stand, move about while standing. For example do heel and toe lifts and arm stretches. But I suppose you might burn up a few more calories than if you were "couch-potatoeing" in front of the tv.

You will burn more calories than sitting. Just do not eat while you stand.
Instead of watching TV, go jogging, then you will lose much more weight.

not that much, but if you run in place and not be eating at the same time you might lose some weight and some Friends who sit by you on the bus at the same time!

lol...is standing the best excersize u can do? LOL I'm not sure u will lose weight unless you're watching your diet as well. Standing with strength your leg muscles thou. Walking works better boo.

No just to stand will not affect to your weight. if you walk or do some hard work where your muscle goes tense then you can expect some sort of weight maintenance issue otherwise just to stand in the queue and do nothing will not impact.

Well,That is really very interesting question.But I guess the only way to loose weight is by doing some body exercise so that you loose some fats while sweating.When you are idly standing,I doubt it bring expected result.

You burn more calories standing than you do sitting but standing is still sedentary so I don't think it will make you lose weight any faster.
