You are allowed to be very involved in your medical experiences....don't be afraid to get a second opinion...or to tell this doctor to be more open with you. Yes he/she went to school for this profession but it doesn't always mean he/she is the best at what he/she does. If you are scared your body and intuition is telling you something..most of the time the feeling you get is right. Keep in mind that you know your body better than any doctor does. If you don't feel comfortable listen to that. It will all be ok as long as you become involved in your Medical life. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do. It may turn out that this doctor doesn't know he/she is making you uncomfortable. If you are honest with him/her, He/She may be honest and open with you in return.
If it turns out that you really do need a bone marrow biopsy and your still scared talk to a psychologist about it. There are therapist out there that specialize in dealing with diseases and certin medical procedures.Your doctor may even be able to recomend a good therapist to you. This person can give you the tools to get rid of your anxiousness, and help you deal with the mental and emotional problems that come with your health and medical procedures. Sometimes just talking to someone will get rid of the fear. Being anxious is normal..especially when you are going through something health related, or even just scary for you. But it can cause physical problems on it's own as well, such as heart palpations, tense muscles, weight gain or loss, headaches, temporary insomnia..and the list goes on. So you may want to deal with this issue anyway. Even just going one time to talk to a counselor may give you the tools to handle your situation even better.
In the mean time..I am praying for you. I hope everything goes well with your health...and i hope you find a doctor that makes you more comfortable...you deserve that. I understand it is scary not knowing what is going on, and the physical pain is hard to deal with. I just really hope things get better for you.

There's a lot that doctors don't know about how the human body works. If you've had tests that are out of range, they're doing the right thing by monitoring you and trying to find the cause, but it's possible they won't find out.
If you aren't comfortable with the specialist you have, ask for a referral to someone else. And when you go, take a written list of your questions so you don't forget to ask something.
Good luck. If this has been going on for 2 years and hasn't gotten worse, with any luck it's nothing serious.

My friend had elevated white blood cell counts for almost a year. They could not figure out what was wrong and eventually admitted her to the hospital. She always had a low grade fever and felt bad. In the hospital they called in an infectious disease Dr. & an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. They could not figure out what was wrong. After being release she found a new Dr. and after the first visit he sent her to be test for c. & m. pnemonia. He said she had the highest numbers he had ever seen and no wonder she felt so bad. Is your sed rate elevated? Ask for this test. Don't let them make excuses not to give it to you unless they figure out what is wrong. Good luck. By the way, those 2 things are air borne.

Whatever your problem is I think if its not serious taichi could help a little. It's an ancient exercise that helps strengthen the body. Its about 3000 years old and could help slowly. Also Acupuncture also helps by helping the body's energy flow uninterrupted. When something is wrong with the body it means somethings not insync inside because of the foods or our thinking is not in the right way.
I had depression and insomnia, acupuncture and tai chi helped me and also some rational thinking. Try changing your diet or try exericising. The Body is a machine that need exericse and proper nutrition to continue going.

I suggest you get a referal from your family doctor to another hematologist who is not in your current doctors group. This is your health and any doctor who makes you feel that you are not important or that he is too busy to answer your questions is the wrong doctor for you.

Something that can be helpful when you go to the doctor is to write your questions down ahead of time so you have them and you won't forget to ask. Then when you get there and the doctor comes in the room, stand up and go in front of the door. If the Doctor doesn't come away from the door so you can go stand in front of it, ask him to sit down so you can ask your questions. Be honest (but polite) and tell him you have questions you would like answered and you feel he rushes your appointments. I stood in front of the door ONCE with my list of questions and the doctor NEVER rushed me again! They are VERY busy and OFTEN overbooked, but that is NOT your problem. you have to be proactive for your own health. Good LUCK!

If you're not comfortable with that doctor or what he thinks or wants to do, it's very encouraged to see a different doctor and get a second opinion. That way you can put your mind at ease and there's less chance for mistakes made by anyone.

two years with little to no answers? please find someone who can talk to you. even if they are still testing you need a doctor you can ask thousands of questions to without feeling rushed and forgetting what you need to ask. you need to feel comfortable so that you have the strength to be prepared for the answers what ever they may be.

Insist on a new doctor if he doesn't slow down and tell you exactly what he is looking for and why. It could be he doesn't know exactly and doesn't want to worry you needlessly but he should explain that to you.
