Its a difficult one cos I'm an 18 but my wedding dress had to be ordered in a size 22 so whatever her size she will probably need to go up a size or two. I know of a great shop in Weston Super Mare which is near Bristol that specialises in wedding attire for the larger lady you could try them. (their website only shows wedding dresses but they do sell bridesmaids dresses, Ive been in the shop and seen them) Otherwise you could buy the material and then get it made yourself at least you will then be sure it is then going to fit. Sorry I couldn`t be more helpful.
Good luck with your search x .

Don't let some rude answers get you or anyone else down. I think you also have had some helpful advise from some. However, it is is only a skirt you require there must be good seamstresses who advertise in your area (better still if someoen can recommend one) and they will make a great job of such a skirt. With the material shops around nowadays the world is your oyster and the colour you want should be no problem. All the very best.

Try eBay! I know that you prefer not to shop on the internet but I bought a ball dress off there for last christmas and when it arrived it ended up being a bit small so I emailed the seller and they gave the option of returning the dress and getting a full refund or the next size up!
Also if you did shop on eBay you would probably get it for a fraction of the price you would in the shops! Good luck and I hope you have an excellent day!

Whats with all the abusive answers. Sorry if god didn't make us as superficial as you lot.
Anyway, do you have a berketex bridal shop nearby, if not then I do think you are gonna have to research online for a shop that does fittings. It's the best way if you want to look for the best deal. Also you could put an advert in the local paper, surely somebody might have an old bridesmaid dress they wouldn't mind selling.

One of my bridemaids is needs a larger size then a 28W. Noticed that most of the designers have dresses up to a 30. What she is going is buying the largest size and then purchasing extra material so that the seamstress can add in an extra panel. Luckily, there is a seamstress who used to work with at a bridal store so she is used to doing it. Another option is to just order the material and have the seamstress make the dress. It just depends on how detailed or basic the bridemaid dress is that you choose.
Good luck.

If I were you, I'd get something specially made. Being a bridesmaid is an important role, and you don't want to do it in a badly fitted dress because you couldn't get one the right size!!
Look around on the internet for dressmakers. There are some really good ones around!!

I second lushloopylyns - I live in Weston Super Mare and I know a friend of a friend who bought their wedding dress at Big Beautiful Brides, she was absolutely delighted with it (she is a size 22 I think). You would definitely need to make an appointment as they are very popular and get booked up quickly. Their phone number is (0800) 389 4351.

Honey,
I'm sure sorry that there are some insensitive folks that have to much time on their hands and not much love in their heart. And, that they had to land on your question. My great grandmother always said that class tells and bad manners smell.
So, because you need a particular color and it's only a skirt, find a seamstress that can accommodate your sister, and acquire the fabric. A custom made garment always fits better.

First find the design you like then look around for seamstress. She'll then let you know how much fabric to buy and will be able to customize it for you. I did this for my bridesmaids as well since everyone was a different size. Good Luck , I'm sure you'll look great.
