Just call and ask to apply to make payments. What were you planning on doing? Nothing? That is the worst possible thing to do, it's not going to go away. Right now the judge will it as you are giving him the finger. (They don't like that)

Explain your situation. Of course if you owe $50 I'm not sure if you will be eligible for a payment plan. Just call, or go into court.

You said the judge gave you time to pay the fine. Have you made any payments on the fine? You really need to go to the courthouse and get it straightened out. If you cannot find a job, you will never be able to even make payments.

Ask the court for an extension on the due date- this is quite comment and the court will likely comply. In the alternative ask if you can pay a smaller fine in exchange for community service. But, do it asap-- if your fine is overdue there may be a bench warrant. Better to be straight forward and co-operate.

By the way- don't drink and drive

It wouldnt hurt to ask. Call the courthouse and ask for the judge's office and set an appointment with his secretary to discuss it. He will probably be impressed that you would come talk to him about it instead of just letting the date go past.

Good luck
