Steven, you are not receiving correct information. First things first...everyone....everyone is going to die at some point in time. 100% of those who have died have lived. Therefore is life the cause of death? 100% of those who have died have breathed air. Is air the cause of death? Watch out for deficient logic!
Chemo is one strategy in handling cancer. Among the things that need to be considered are the type of cancer, how fast it is growing, what part of the body it is located, how advanced is the cancer, how responsive is the cancer to which treatments?
Once you have some of the above information you can make decissions.
I have had two bouts with cancer... base of tongue treated with 66 courses of radiation, chemo and surgery ( 2 years ago). And, squmaus cell cancer in the lymph node in the lung area. That was treated (so far) by 33 courses of radiation and chemo (diagnoised last Octeber).
Short story, I'm still here...short, fat, obnoxious.. life is good. I considered the alternative and decided it wasn't for me at this time.
If you have more questions ask. If you do not like or understand what an MD says ask again or antoher MD.
Good Luck, God Bless.

My mom passed away from Cervical Cancer in August, and she had chemo the first few months that was not so strong. When the cancer spread to other areas in her body then they gave her the stronger dose of chemo. She only had 2 of those chemo treatments and then she passed away shortly after. She got weaker from the chemo. My friends had warned me that Chemo makes you worse and that you would have a better quality of life without it and enjoy the time that you have left, but every case is different depending on what stage they catch the cancer.

That is a myth. Some people with cancer will die whether they have chemotherapy or not. That does NOT mean it was FROM the chemotherapy. But many people are saved by it. And many people have their lives prolonged because of it. If you want facts instead of rumors do some research and don't trust people who haven't.

chemo isn't able to differentiate between healthy cells and cancer cells, it just attacks all the cells in the area. so sometimes if too many healthy cells are are damaged, you can get sick from that alone.
also having this treatment and all the medication you need take with it seriously weakens the person and their immune system. so that if they get what to you is a simple flu, for them it can be very dangerous coz their body is too weak to fight it.
but in most cases, chemo works - where did you hear that fact from anyway?

That is not true... I am not sure who is giving you the information but you may want to inform them that chemotherapy for cancer patients is important and necessary in many types of cancer.
