No, my wife cant work for atleast 1.5 years and I am relocating myself from India. Can you please tell me whether i can save any money with this kind of salary in Cairns and how is the place to live and what kind of salary is it - good, ok or below average .. Thank you

Cairns is a multicultural city, alot of international students come here and study at the university etc.
I am guessing you are a chef? The Hotels around here generally bring in overseas chefs. Even if you are not, your employer should put you up in a room for 2-3 weeks so you can find a place of your own. There is plenty of furnished 2 bedroom apartments in Cairns. The Northern Beaches are a great place to live, Palm Cove, http://www.qldbeaches.com/palm-cove.html Clifton Beach, http://www.qldbeaches.com/clifton-beach.html and Trinity Beach http://www.qldbeaches.com/trinity-beach.html .... are the best place. Cairns is in the Tropical part of Australia, so we have a dry and wet season. Nov - April can be very hot and humid, but guessing you would be used to that in India.

Better than some, worse than others. Its a decent top average pay rate.
Check the cost of accommodation. Generally speaking you will spend $150 per week at the supermarket. Roughly speaking, you will have $875 per week after tax in your pay packet. You work it out.

yes it is are they going to provide you with a place to stay for your wife? That is more than what I am going to be making when I get out of school and I am going to be working in the billing and coding of a hospital. Lucky you.

It depends how you live. A newborn baby requires so much. As long as you save and don't spend a lot you should be ok. Good luck!
