I put a question on Yahoo Answers about a Yorkshire pudding mix. I only had two replies to my question to which one was in French. As I don't understand the comment or know anyone that does, can anyone translate in English what the reply was. The answer was.......C'est vraiment pas la bouffe anglaise ! Le meilleure de la nourriture est en France !

So it seems that the French answer was not answering my question after all. It appears that their answer was just sheer arrogance towards the British.

Hello, Tango.
I am French and I was quite indignant about the answer which you got from a compatriot as I think it is totally unfair.
It is true that at one time English food had a bad press in France, because often things were boiled in excess and meat was overcooked, and the post-war food was not brilliant due to rationing. But this kind of prejudice has disappeared a long time ago and Yorkshire pudding is well thought of by all the French people that I have introduced it to.
The answer which was posted was "It is not really English food. The best food is French" but it is in vulgar French and mispelt. I have a feeling that the word "bon"(good) is missing and the intended first sentence was "English nosh is not good". So I have looked at the other answers given by the person who who wrote it, and generally they are far from impressive, even when addressed to other French people. It is just a smart Alec who has wandered on to the English website and probably did not even understand what you were talking about. You cannot tar all French people with the same brush and there are plenty of English nerds that give arrogant or stupid answers too.
With regard to your Yorkshire pudding mix, I remember it, as my mother-in-law used it, but I have not seen it on the shelves for many years.
I can only apologise for this person's lamentable answer, and hope you will not be as prejudiced as this man is and think badly of all French people as a result.
Long live Yorkshire pudding! It is the food of angels when it is well made.

You seem to have had your question answered.
But I should like to add that the French certainly did not invent the recipe for Yorkshire Pudding. Mind you, neither did anyone from Yorkshire!
It was given to a coal-miner's wife, admittedly in Yorkshire, by an Angel, when she prayed for guidance as to what she should give her old man for dinner, having hardly anything in the larder.
Just remind the French of Agincourt !

They were trying to say that yorkshire puddings are not a food of england they are from france. It's a long standing debate that the french actually came up with the recipe long before the brits did.

What this meant was that English food is not really good, best cuisine has to be French cuisine but then ... I know many a French man/woman have tried Yorkshire puds and found them irresistible!

That's pretty bad French. I think it means that English food isn't really food and French food is the best. But it could mean that Yorkshire pudding isn't really English food and in fact the best Yorkshire puddings are in France.

That won't help you much: "that's not English grub! Best food is in France"
Comments about that answer, if I may:
a) whoever wrote that has a low literacy level in French;
b) whoever wrote that does not not much about cooking.
I ran out of space on my kitchen shelves: too many books / tapes from Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson...
Please forgive him/her, and have a nice weekend.

Wise Owl is absolutely right. The French used is common and vulgar and if French responses were also subject to violation notices this should have received one.
