I have been taking darvocet 100n for over 2 years for a chronic condition. But what i am worried about, I didn't want to take anything stronger ( most docs don't want to give anything anyways) , so now I have to take 2 or 2.5 pills to get any relieve, which I know is way to much. But when you are hurting , you don't care. What are the first signs that i am hurting my kidneys or liver? Latest bloodwork didn't show anything ...please help.

Darvocet is metabolized in the liver. That means that it is cleared through your liver. What you wrote looks like you take the propoxyphene napsylate. You shouldn't take more than 600mg per day. Liver function testing will reveal any damage to your kidneys.

You're taking too much, You are taking double the recommended maximum. It can cause damage to your liver.
You need to get on another medication that is stronger and less damaging. Contact a pain specialist in your area. They can help and prescribe another medication that will work better. E-mail me if you have more questions.

The acetaminphen in Darvocet is exceted through the liver. With the low dose that you're taking, you should be fine. Lots of people take 4-6 Tylenol daily for pain, so 2 - 2 1/2 is not out of line.

Hope this helps.

I'm no expert, but I was also on Davocet U100 for quite a while and was recently taken off of it, because my doctors said that it isn't recommended that a patient be on it for over 2 yrs. You said that your bloodwork didn't show anything and thats great, but you really don't want to wait and be on it until it does, do you?
Also after awhile taking the same drug just simply isn't effective for you anymore, they more or less become a part of your body chemistry and you don't get the effect that is intended from that drug.
There is one more drug used for chronic pain that isn't really strong and it is Ultram (Tramadol) I found it very effective and after about 1wk of taking it I really didn't feel any side effects at all. It is commonly used for people who aren't always is awlful pain, but can potentially get there if they don't have something to help. I highly recommend tramadol, even since my pain is too severe for just tramadol I do take it on my good days or along with my new medication on really bad days.
Good Luck to you, I hope you find what is right for you, but you might want to read about Darvocet U100 on the net before you reach your decision. My doctors are great and I trust what they say.

You need to take a "hepatic panel" bloodwork in order to see if there's any problems with your liver. If you absolutely cannot do without the pain meds, then I recommend that you also take milk thistle capsules (at least 2 everyday) to make sure it does not harm your liver. You can get this at a health food store (don't use the ones in the supermarket as they're synthetic as not as good).

I take allergy meds everyday for the last 5 yrs and have always taken milk thistle, and my liver panel is fine. Also, at least once a year (if not twice), I would recommend a body/colon cleanse to rid your body of toxins that would overload the kidneys & liver. The best one is the ones you take that will not infere with your regular day-to-day routines. Try this one below. You are right to worry about your liver & kidneys as the doctors will not do it for you.

All are synthesized in liver and filtered and thrown out via kidneys. Therefore problems of liver/kidney failures are increasing rapidly.
Avoid drugs for non - infectious diseases and always go for alternate systems.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
