Angus Deaton lost his job on television for his private life but John McCririck has been vile, insulting and rude to Chris Tarrent's ex-wife. I know he's always been disgustingly sexist but I don't think he should ever be given the opportunity to insult someone like that. What do others think?

For those that missed it, he said Ingrid Tarrant must be rubbish in bed and that's why Chris was unfaithful and a host of other insults. He was thrown off Alan Titchmarsh's show

Dear threepenny53 Re: "Ingrid apparently lost her cool". I am also in the situation of being divorced after my husband had affairs. He was impotent for years and I was sympathetic and tried everything to help him and save my marriage. Then I found out the reason for his impotence was that he was getting it elsewhere. Consequently although I have no idea what Ingrid is like (apart from the rubbish printed in the media most of which is made up I believe) I do have some sympathy for her situation. Futhermore no-one deserves to be spoken to in the way John spoke to her.

Ingrid had apparently lost her cool after her and Chris split up due to his various affairs. Some woman had said Chris was a great lover 10/10, Ingrid said he was lucky if he got 5/10 and that was on a good day. She also threw a few other insults in his direction.

I suppose if it's okay for Ingrid to insult someone on television then it should be okay for McCririck to do it too. You really can't say it's okay for one and not the other.

But was it done for ratings? Is McCririck just playing a role?

We have Simon Cowell, he is blunt, cold and to the point
We had Anne Robinson, she made her name for being nasty, vicious and sarcastic.
And we have John McCririck, chauvenistic, arrogant, loud, sexist and insulting.

I could never figure out how John McCririck was married - not for his looks, not for his body, certainly not for his public personality!

I can only hope this is just his public trademark personality - he's probably a sweetie in real life!!!

I would not like to be locked in a room with him for to long. But how about just ignoring him.

In fact if we all just ignored him would that not be better than a ban.

The Man about 67, social norms have changed since the war. I hope when your all old, and your views are out of date nobody wants to ban you. Have you thought about joining the thought police?

Does anyone remember Shooting Stars. One question was 'True or false: John McCrirrick has to sit in a bath full of fabreeze for 3 hours to nearly begin to shift the stink?' Bob Mortimer makes me laugh.

John McCririck is a no mark.....and yes, he ought to be banned from television...in fact he ought to be banned full stop. The man is a right idiot on the whole anyway.

The real thrust of this question is should someone be banned for voicing their opinion? I think not. We live in a country that believes in free speech and regardless of whether or not we agree with any stated opinion we cannot under any circumstances deny any person the right to express it.

As a 5:1 outsider I think he should run the course until he falls at the last hurdle

what did he say to Cris Tarrants wife?

I hate McCririck anyway, ever since watching CBB he is repulsive, physically and mentally. I'd be happy if he was banned

i think after his attitude towards Chris Tarrent's ex wife, he will end out not being used on tv so let him kill off his own career. He would only have his sexist attitude to blame and his prehistoric values.
