you can eat it and you will be fine.
Just make sure its stale and not mouldy, you are looking for any signs of mould such as black spots, grey foam/fur growing or green patches, if you spot any of these, its really over to how healthy you immune system is as to how likely you are to become sick.
If its just the odd slice of bread, it'll probably be fine, (as I said as long as you havent spent the past 6 months eating nothing but junkfood and missing out all fruit and veg) but dont do the whole day on it or your body may get fed up and start trying to release it from your system in any way possible (vomiting, diarea etc)
hope that helps

No you can't get sick from stale bread. To soften it up, put a bit of water on the stale part and put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. However if the bread is moldy, you can get sick from it.

Stale bread will not make you sick. Chefs use it in recipes for croutons, breadcrumbs, etc. as long as there is no mold. Stale just means it's lost it's moisture. If it tastes OK to you, then eat up! = )

As long as they are not moldy they will not make you sick. What makes an item stale is generally a change in the moisture content from being exposed to air. In crackers, they are meant to be very dry and they soak up humidity, thus making them "stale". With bread, it is meant to be moist and will dry out when exposed to air, thus making it "stale".
The best thing to do with your stale grain products is to use them as breading when you cook. Use your stale crackers as the breading for a meat loaf. Cut your stale bread up into cubes and toast them to use as croutons for soups or salads.

In general our modern food has additives and processes that mean, where one would probably be ok with something that's just turned a bit in the old days, one should be more wary today...
By the way...
Allegedly Ryvita have a certain seed which produces a mould that contains LSD! so watch out for them.
[Don't go trying this kids, off food makes you sick, home made hallucinogenics is a risky business.]

Stale simply describes a lack of moisture. Bread is stale due to it being dried out. It should not make you sick unless unhealthy bacteria has grown on it or you are dehydrated.

Stale is okay. It's just dried out. If you have stale bread, make French Toast. If they go beyond stale and turn moldy, though, through them out.

It wont make you sick unless you have a seriously weak stomach. Its not like meat though, it'll probably only make you sick if you don't like the taste. There's a cake that my mum used to make called tiffin, which she used all of the old biscuits. Had it about once a month.

If you enjoy stale food by all means eat it just make sure there's no mold or such growing on it. Why you would want to eat stale food is probably a whole other issue.
