A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you can work in a hospital, long-term care facility, convalescent home, doctor’s office or surgical center, providing many of the same services also performed by Registered Nurses (Rn's).
However, being a non-degreed health care provider, you will have a limited scope of practice. After having practical experience and basic education in nursing and licensed as LVN you will do basic nursing care.-You may have to do a lot of the clean up in hospital settings, preparing rooms for new patients, making up the beds and do the linens changing, bathing patients, or cleaning up a patient who has vomited, and all sorts of cleaning associated in patient care are typical LVN jobs.
The LVN's scope of practice can include administering medications, drawing blood. You may be allowed to initiate Intravenous fluids after having additional certification required.) These things however are done with the supervision of a doctor or a Registered Nurse. In general, an LVN does similar things done by a Registered Nurse but cannot do EVERYTHING an RN does.
