Do you have a fever? Painful/burning urination. You should go to the ED/ER if you believe that you have a kidney infection. It's been known to kill women if not treated with antibiotics. It's called pyelonephritis.

I was hospitalized twice for a kidney infection. It was horrible. It started out as lower back pain that turned into body aches. I thought I was getting the flu. Then I started throwing up. I had a fever and just felt miserable. You definetly want to call your doctor or if you don't have one go the local er and get checked out. I know what you mean by can't bending without wincing I worked a whole day with it and that's exactly how I felt.

Lower back pain in only one symptom of kidney infection, the other more important ones are pain at the site, and high fever which you do not have. It could be from carrying or physical overactivity, or possibly a herniated or inflammed disc in your lower back.
You need an evaluation by a medical doctor or orthopedic specialist to rule out disc problem. Set up an appointment directly with an orthopedic specialist, or if your ins require that you go through a referral, see your primary care physician first who can at least, give you something for the pain until you get to see the specialist.

Yes, it sounds like you could have a kidney infection or a stone that can't pass. The pain can shoot right down your leg and can be so severe that you are unable to bend and need a morphine shot. It can start as a backache and last for weeks before it becomes so severe that you end up in the emergency room in agony. Male or female does not matter.

Well, it may not be a full on kidney infection. Usually you start out with a Urinary Tract Infection. And the symptoms for that are usually feeling the urge to go pee all the time, and when you do you pee MAYBE a drop and then it hurts a lot. It's just extremely uncomfortable, and it can have a strong urine odor. You need to go to the doctors and get some antbiotics or it won't go away, and you will suffer.... trust me.... They are NO fun. And make sure you take all your medicine or you can get another one right away...

kidney infections are pretty painful and when let run lose can irrepairably damage your kidney. when i had mine it started out as faint throbbing in the side of my lower back then it grew to unbearable pain that came in waves every time i moved. see a doctor! a pee test will determine whether or not you have an infection...if the pain is real bad get to the ER where they can start you on strong antibiotics right away.

well then your problem is not kidney infection. The kidneys rest in your flank area which is at the level of your waist and slightly above. If your lower back is the issue, you've likely damaged the muscles back there and need to ice and rest.

Could be lots of things. A muscle problem. a spinal problem, there could even be problems with some organs, (including your kidneys) that would give you pain in your back. You need to see the big MD, sorry!!
