She's had it for ages and it has never looked infected and she's never bothered when I touch it. It just looks like a big white pointy lump nearly the size of my smallest fingernail (she's all white). I wonder if it's like some kind of harmless cyst that people get. Have you seen this kind of thing before?

If she's had it for "ages" then I doubt it is cancerous as tumors usually don't stay the same for a long time--they tend to get bigger. BUT, you never know, though, and ANY lump on a pet should be checked by the vet and removed if recommended. You can't tell just by looking what it is. We've been fooled even by growths that "looked" like harmless fatty tumors (lipomas), that when biopsied turned out to be something else.

My Staffordshire Terrier, Peanut has this curious bodily feature as well. Hers is black.

Vet did a biopsy type thingy and she got the all clear.

She has asked me to pass on to you though, that it would be a good idea to get it checked out by a professional at her next visit... Just for the sake of peace of mind

Sounds like she could have what's called a fatty tumor there. These are not cancerous, but, I would have your vet check this out just to be sure that there really is nothing wrong. If she has recently been nursing, she could have a clogged mammary gland--this may or may not be painful to her. You should have your vet check this out just to be safe.

She probably has a clogged mammary gland -it may or may not be painful for her.The best thing is to have it checked by a vet to be sure it's not cancerous.
