i'm with my boyfriend for over 3 years now, but why do i keep dreaming about my first boyfriend? has it got any meaning?

I think as you are getting closer to your present boyfriend, your sleeping mind is saying "Haven't we been down this road before?" You are feeling all these waves of nostalgia sleeping that your waking mind would feel too guilty about to let you reminisce freely about. I think it means you are getting closer to this guy and your subconscious mind is trying to settle what to do with these positive memories of your old boyfriend. It could also reflect that you are thinking more seriously about this guy and like the other interpretation I read is doing a comparison check to validate the worthiness of continuing with this guy.

The first boyfriend will always hold a special part of your heart. Firsts in anything (happy or sad) are always memorable. First kiss, first car first fight, first goal.
You could be comparing your first boyfriend to your current one. You are finding similarities and differences. We don't mean to do this on purpose, but it's a natural thing to do.

It depends on what your first boyfriend means to you, and also things like what the boyfriend is doing in your dream, and your attitude towards it....
