Its pretty much up to each person, You cant mock something that cant be seen. Most people need that extra self-worth, or a reason to survive, and religion usually gives that.
Religion can be harmful if you go into it with expectations, a gambler for instance is a true Christian, and prays for a break, well he dosen't get it, and then he gets angry at God. Then he falls from his beliefs.
Some can be dangerous (Jim Jones) In this situation he had people following him. I don't care what people say, I would never never be brain-washed by any priest, they are not the say in anything, they just give their thoughts and read from a book. And they have no right mocking this world.
Heaven and hell, aswell can be a very dangerous issue in religion, but hey human nature is usually drawn to the darker-side of humanity, it's our nature to be curious.
Religion can be very good, for inner peace, but don't expect anything in return, as in marriages, this could be the downward spiral.
Plus I don't think care for churches, it's like being in high-school, just a popularity contest with corruption. Try going to church in just street clothes, and I thought Christians don't judge.

Is Atheism silly, harmful or downright dangerous?
Religion I can agree is harmful but not a relationship with the source of all creation LORD CHRIST.
Leave religion to the Churches, mosques, temples, and synagogues and build a relationship with the Lord.

Religion is never silly nor harmful. Only it's followers. No religion in this world aims for the downfall of any person.

Many things can be a useful tool in the hands of some and a destructive weapon in the hands of others. It depends upon how the thing is wielded and for what purpose. Christianity has comforted, guided, strengthened, and inspired courageous and remarkably generous acts in innumerable followers. Unfortunately, it has also inspired much fear, hatred, and injustice.

it depends from the person believing in theat religion. besides the negative aspects of lets say christian religion, there are hospitals and shelters run by the several christian churches. It is up to every single person what he/she picks up from the religion and what he/she tries to add into it.
Sure there are some pretty cruel and black religions, but msot of the mare just various scales of grey.

For some to cast thier faith on others it may be just that to who they are trying to convert. Buit for some who may have had a life that was unhealthy it may have made them a bit healthier in their living, such as a heavy drug user who might have not found God may be going down a road that would be detrimental to his/her health. Then they get "saved" and they begin to change thier lives. But the danger in that then they want to place God responcible for thier change and want everyone to convert like them. Some of us have a psychology back ground and understand the dynamics to change and to healthy and unhealthy living as to right and wrong ideas set a person up for failure in having healthy relationships with others.

I think we'd still have war and murder even without religion. Religion is only couched as the reason for the Crusades, the Witch Burnings, and other slaughters. In reality most of all that was really based on money and greed.
Overall, I think religion provides comfort to many people. Those who twist Christ's teaching into something hateful would still be that without their religon. They'd find something else to stand on as moral high ground.

I would say harmful and dangerous. Think back in History, the Crusades (thousands killed in the name of 'God'). Henry VIII, he couldnt devorce because of the Church so he lobbed off his wives heads.
Even in modern day it's quite dangerous I mean you have people being persecuted for their beliefs by Christians.
