My cat use to be very easy going and love to be held. I did get another cat a long time ago. He seems to be hurting. Is this dangerous. Will he attack. When I pick him up he just keeps growling v ery bad. Even when the other ct is not around. He doesn't want anyone to pat his head or anywhere. He is an outdoor/indoor cat

You need to take him to the vet. If you can't get near to put him in the carrier, throw a blanket or towel over him. He is doing this because he is in pain.

He probably fell and hurt something, and when you try to touch him, he hisses to get you to stop so it doesn't make the pain worse.

Get him to a vet just to check him out and make sure nothing's broken.

If he's been an easy going cat and loved affection, there's no need for him to be hissing at you now. He may have gotten hurt outside in a fight with another animal.

Has he had a rabies shot?

Take him to the vet!!!!

Ignore what other people are saying... Your cat does have feelings and is probly trying to make you realize something is wrong. Maybe when you were away the cats attacked each other and the one growling is in pain. You should try and bring him to the vet asap and see if anything is seriously wrong. If everything comes out looking good, ask your vet for some recommendations. I would maybe pay more special attention on that one cat and make him realize that you still love him. Good Luck

Is this behaviour new for him? It sounds like he is in pain for some reason. He may have been in a fight with another cat or hit by a car (I hope not) or he may have some kind of infection or internal problem that hurts him when he is touched. The best thing to do would be to take him to the vet as it is hard to tell what is wrong without seeing him in person.

Take your cat to a vet - NOW! Any unusual behaviour means something is wrong and it definitely sounds like he is in pain. It could be an abscess or indeed anything. The person who knows about these things is your vet. Hope puss gets better soon.

My cat did something similar to this a few months ago. I took him to the vet pronto and he was what they call "plugged". Basically, he had an infection. He was given antibiotics and it cleared up. I did change food after his episode. Take him to the vet...

I think your cat is hurt. You may have to throw a thick towel around him to protect yourself when you pick him up to take to the vet.
