It's nothing but a big joke anyway, ment to show how silly laws are. And it's not like they could arrest or punish god, is it ?:)

I think its mostly from ignorance. All they read it the headline then think 'what an ***' when the guy is actually trying to make a point in regards to another case.

It might have some good effects, though I consider it a publicity stunt.

More serious was a convict who tried to sue God for breach of contract a few years ago in a Romanian court, saying "God received different material valuables from me, as well as prayers in exchange for promises of a better life," which he did not receive. The court threw out the case because "the defendant is neither an individual nor a company, and is not subject to a civil court of law's jurisdiction."

It is rather amusing. But it's hardly a new thing. I seem to vaguely recall someone trying that some decades ago. Oh, and then there's the film "The Man Who Sued God" starring the brilliant Billy Connolly. It's not a bad film, tho' it gets a tad cheesy toward the end.

I'm only scandalized as it's a waste of tax money, similar to the "civil rights" cases brought by incarcerated criminals looking to get a day away from jail.

The god case might be a good point, but still a waste of money.

Yeah...it's pretty funny. But it is so silly that it isn't really worth it.

Then again, it got everyone talking, so maybe it wasn't so silly. Heck I did the blaspheme challenge for the same reason, and I guess it is about as silly.

Suing is civil, not criminal. It's not like god is going to go to jail. lol But knowing how he is, he won't show up for the court date, the guy will win a judgment by default then that senator will have to garnish god's wages.

To tell the truth I find this stupid, it is the premise he used that annoys me.
In a rape trial the judge barred the words “rape” and “victim". The woman sued for her right to free speech. Chambers say this is stupid and to show his contempt... ahem, to prove his point, sues God to show how stupid the woman's complaint is.

it's no sillier than allot of the suits filed these days. I'm guessing god doesn't show for the court date.

You can hold the church responsible, and get money from the church or even close down a church that way.
