I've been a fan of film cameras and bought myself quite a few of cameras. So lately I've been saving up for Polaroid SX70 which I fell in love instantly with! But it seemed like I can't find them in Singapore and those that I found are selling at a really high price!

So I was wondering if anyone knows any shop/sellers/yourself that can sell me a polaroid SX70. I might need a ND filter too!
My budget for the polaroid is around 190 SGD. Thanks for looking! :)

The SX-70 has been out of production for at least two decades. So you won't be able to find one in a store that sells new cameras. The same goes for the accessories and the film and flash bulbs. These are almost impossible to find too.

Your only source these days for an SX-70 would be a place like e-Bay or a seller who specializes antiques, especially photographic antiques. You might be able to also find one in a store that sells used equipment.

You could also try to place an ad in the paper on the long shot that someone might have one lying about at home and is willing to be rid of it. That could get you one at a very low price since they'd not know what it was worth.

And yes, the SX-70 was an incredible achievement. It pioneered new discoveries in optics, chemistry, battery technology, packaging and miniaturization winning quite a few awards in its time. It's too bad it didn't last but then the cost to use it was exceptionally high and certainly higher than film based cameras and today's digitals.

I hope this helps a little.

If you buy one on-line you'll still have to pay import duties and maybe taxes on it. You might find an unscrupulous ebay seller who will offer to help you "cheat" by listing it as a gift but that doesn't always work - and it really upsets the local authorities if they catch you.

Of course you might find a seller in Singapore who is just tired of the camera.
