If we seek to destroy all that is "evil" are we not becoming "evil" ourselves?

What I'm asking is how do we get rid of our destructive nature, the part of us that LABELS something evil and attempts to destroy it rather than understanding its cause and working from there.

Starve it to death by not feeding it. Don't support that which is evil with your time, talents or treasures.

What's wrong with being destructive? That's the problem with religion. It likes to label things as "good" and "bad", and ignores that most things are both depending on how you look at them.
If we created things without ever destroying anything, there would be too much old junk in this world.
Also, we don't "become evil". That's another one of those labels that doesn't leave much room for reality. Evil and good are judgements. I might consider something to be evil and the next guy might consider it to be good. Mostly likely, there are some good and bad qualities to anything and it would do us much more good to discuss those differences than to plaster biased labels on them.
This is yet another way that religion harms society.

Hello!
God created man with free will we make our own choices good or bad.
We can only live one life"our own".
The only way that we can change anything is through our own motivation .
We will never destroy evil .
The pre historic angelic conflict is running it's course.
Mankind has an old sin nature which is through every cell in our body and will stay there until we depart from Planet earth in death.
Take care!

First of all. "Evil" only exist within ourselves. All kins of destruction is also self-destructive, so the best way of getting rid of it, is by ignoring it and let it destroy itself by its own hand. You don't have to waste energy on it at all.
The only "Evil" you actively can do something about, is the Evil within yourself.
Example: If you ignore Christianity, Christianity will die, because christianity is s self-destructive concept.

The problem is not in the effort, but in the distinction. Evil is but a word, and is without meaning. Can you drink tea from the word "cup"? If one seeks to destroy one thing, one merely misunderstands it's relation to everything else.

Well I think the trick would be to turn the other cheek and allow God to do the destroying if it needs to be done ...

Let God take care of destroying evil and restoring what is His. That's not our job. Ours is to trust Him and to keep His Word. Love in Christ, ~J~
