"Why isn't incest legal everywhere?"


"I don't get it, people accept gay/ lesbian/ bi with no problems so why not incest? I don't see the difference between them honestly. Usually when someone mentions incest, people say it's sick but why?"


and I'm going to explain my reasons for asking it and answering several answers I got. Contrary to what some people said, I didn't ask it for myself.



One major thing seemed to be "The kids will have defects"


Do the people have to have kids? What about birth control/ condoms? People use them all the time so why not for this too? I've never gotten this argument, not everyone who has sex, has to have kids do they?

Secondly it also occurs as a form of parental and progeny relationship. This also hinders the development of the child. Lastly it occurs later in life and produces progeny with genetic defects. The two people would be responsible, consenting adults, and the last part doesn't matter because of various birth control methods. This makes incest seem along the lines of rape, when between two mature people, it wouldn't be.



With all that in mind, what would be the problem with it?

Like I said, I'm not asking this for myself. I'm personally against it but I want to see what people will say, considering there's really no reason to not do it.

The only real reason that incest is illegal is to cut the number of birth defects. I suggest that it was classed as taboo then left on the taboo list as by the time it became 'safe' to have sex with close family members we were all so deeply imbued with the idea that incest is disgusting, no-one has bothered to rescind the laws.
Incest qua incest is not disgusting if it is, as you sat, between 2 consenting adults.
Child molestation is ALWAYS disgusting & should be stamped out. As should its practioners, preferably painfully.

Although I see nothing wrong with consenting adults who want to make a commitment to each other, this *is*, admittedly, the logical conclusion of where that philosophy takes us. If you say it's nobody's business if two men want to get married -- and it isn't -- then you also have to say that it's nobody's business if an adult brother and sister want to get married. And it isn't. It doesn't matter how repulsive someone else finds the idea -- we don't let our personal morality get in the way.

The argument about birth defects is simply that this is also nobody's business. In case no one has noticed, gay men are at higher risk of health dangers, too. This is about freedom of choice.

I'm being totally serious here. If two consenting men want to get married, it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg, to quote Thomas Jefferson. Nor does it affect me if adult siblings want to marry, or if one man wants to marry 10 women, or if a woman wants to marry 6 women and 3 men.

I don't bring bestiality into this because that's ridiculous. An animal can't consent. Nor do I include incestuous relationships that are non-consensual, such as between an adult and a child. That qualifies as rape.

WTF does this have to do with being gay?

Incest is about mixing FAMILY relationships with sex. You just don't do that. It messes up your view as to what family is versus lovers. Additionally, most incest involves pedophilia and/or sex without consent. That is MUCH different that two non-related individuals having consentual adult sex.

50 yrs ago women dressed proper and noone tolerated sodomites. Give it time. Culture will accept anything over time. Then the prevs will have to go deeper in the shadows and become more vile.
