Whats the difference between Light dependent resistor and a photo diode... Both have the same fuction?

LDR used for rough application like switching light circuits linearity accuracy may vary & may not be fast action respnse time may vary .
were as photo diodes are very accurate stable can used in various labaratoy equipment like spectrometer ,analysers & high speed switching (digital cicuits)application etc.

An LDR varies its resistance with light. A photo-diode varies the current conducted through it. Photodiodes have a more linear response than LDRs and are thus more suitable for measurement applications.
