You know what as a christian I agree with the comment ... I think It's a damn shame that true christians or no true christians can't seem to congregate in a parkinglot or in a field or at someones home or a pole barn instead they have P.A. systems that cost more than some people annual income ...WAKE UP people !!!
Jesus fed people in a field and preached to thousands ...do we need to preach to the choir till the cows come home or better yet Christ returns ??
Jesus says don't say peace be unto you and leave a guy standing there hungry...It's not my family that concerns me ...It's others who are in need ...The church is the body of christ .....Does the planet need another building ??? this guy is right ...a tenth to god to be spent on a building ?????WOW...God loves a cheerfull giver ==>> This thought isn't pleasing to me and I'm a sinner ..What would jesus do???

Hmm, But they also have mega people going to the Church too.My Church is not worth millions, far from it ! I may be low income but I still give my money and it doesn't hurt at all. IF I couldn't provide something for my family at home .My family at the Church would be the first to help us out.So ,what is your point? For living in the Bible belt you sure haven't opened your heart and listened .Have you? No I do believe that you are just spouting words that you have heard somewhere and really have NO idea what you are talking about. There are some(churches ,religions, people) that are just out for the money .And they do give the real Churches bad names.Just like a few bad priests can dirty a whole religion. But that is not what it is all about. And I don't have to attend Church and give money to have Jesus as my savior. So "poor" Church goers? Give me a break.

My church is not worth millions first off all. Second of all I do just fine feeding my family with what God supplies me with. Finally! I hope that through all the volunteering of free time, labor, and money that our members put into the church that it will be there for my children to have a place to call there church.

Not only do the major religious organizations have buildings worth millions..they also like to own very profitable businesses. Believe me the big churches are very wealthy while their followers are stuck in poverty believing money is the root of all evil and quickly handing it over to the church!

AT,
I live in the BIBLE BELT and go to a small Church. We are proud of our members and assist those in need. We attend a small Non-Denominational Church. It is NOT worth nearly that much but we still feel very GOOD about it. Why do you have such hatred for the one who is responsible for everything that you have and ever will have? Our GOD is AWESOME! Have a great day.
Thanks,
Eds

Poor people pay taxes, and contribute to an economy that obviously doesn't serve their immediate interest either; and governments build million dollar buildings and spend billions on self-interest.

So what's your point?

God does exist. Men build church buildings.

The spirit of the Lord resides inside of the person, not in a building.

Why should just the "church goers" feel guilty? Do you not live in a house with way more luxuries than you need? Are you without warmth or food? Do you have so much more than you need but keep it all for yourself anyway? Focus on what you can do, not what you can say to shame others into doing it for you.

My church I go to does not have stain glass windows, & not even a steeple, in fact if you did not know the place you may not know that it is a church, God does not look at a building as the church, We, as Christians that walks in truth is the church. & BTW our church is paid for, & Yes I pay my tithes.

If the time frame that you are focusing on is the next 100 years, then your underlying assumption might be valid. But if the time frame that you SHOULD be focusing on is infinite, then your underlying assumption is invalid.

Or said differently, why do you focus on feeding the temporal body and ignore feeding the spiritual body?
