Just so great when we see our dog, Taffy, when she is looking for the perfect toy to play with, IN THE MOMENT!.....she just keeps looking, looking and looking, until finally, she I guess says, Thats IT, the one I've been looking for! ! !

Mostly they think with smells, sounds and lastly pictures I believe. They have a very good recognition of voices and smells when it comes to people (or owners). But probably smell plays the first role again in case of objects.

Good luck

Well not with words no, because words are a human thing! Dogs don't know how to speak or write human language!

Dog's brains work quite differently to ours. Their thoughts are more likely to be in pictures I suppose, but really it's more just instinct - you know when you think something without really seeing it in pictures or words? Like that. Their brains are no where near as advanced as ours remember - they're not even half the size.

I named my cat that I have now "Taffy" also. I know what you mean. I know they see images and colors. I dressed up once as a cat for Halloween. I had a black outfit and black cat ears and painted whiskers on my face and the tip of my nose black. My last cat saw me and looked up at my face and hissed and ran out of the room. Everytime he saw me he looked up and did the same thing. My husband and I said to each other "well, I guess they can see colors and images".

There is a book out there by Stanely Coren called "How Dogs Think" I'd definately check it out. :)

As for cats, I'm not sure, but I'll bet someone's written a book about it somewhere. Lol
