as an electrition you can make killer money here in the US and the medical field is top dollar. you work alot though as we do not get much vacation, and immigration is very strict. you can either have family that sponsors you or find a job that will sponsor you. with your job i dont think it will be hard to find a job that will sponsor you. go to www.uscis.gov to look over the forms, you will have to schedule a trip here to look for a job, and immigration is long and difficult, but if you want money, with your trades, america is the place to make it.. good luck

I too live in northern ireland, the wages here are horrible i agree, but remember we have a much lower cost of living than anywhere else in the UK and have a much lower crime rate. What part of N.I are you from? Belfast is alot more expensive than in the country, so if your there i would advise to move into a county town, like Downpatrick, Armagh or Enniskillen, somewhere that has hospitals/work available

Australia or New Zealand, many are making the move and other than Christmas being in the summer it seems superb.
Chances are your kids would hardly be affected due to their age if you moved now.

Wow, those are both well paid and sought after skills in the U.S. However, I don't know what the immigration requirements are. The medical profession is especially growing here....

With the two of you working, your total income cannot be that bad, and your fella is a tradesman. kids do cost a lot of money. I suggest when you go to bed keep your knees together, and be thankful for what you've got
