I went car shopping not too long ago and I wound up wanting the car salesman! He was my type from head to toe and I sensed mutual attraction and everything! The problem is car salesmen are notoriously known for feeding you b.s. to get the sale. However, he was forthright about having a girlfriend (so he's off limits to me anyway right now because I am not a homewrecker). My sister was with me and even SHE sensed chemistry brewing between us.
I haven't bought my car just yet, but the whole experience of meeting this guy has got me thinking is it wise to ever date a car salesman? I want your opinions to lull over the idea if this issue pops up again for me. (He did mention that his girlfriend is draining his bank account and he liked the fact that I am more frugal, assuming he believed me when I said it.)

Saying that all car salesmen are liars is a bit stereotypical don't you think?
The salesman who sold me my car asked me for a date and 5 years later we're now happily married.
If they made such bad boyfriends, none of them would have girlfriends in the first place.

I think they make fantastic boyfriends my partner is not a car sales man but does work in a car garage and is a salesman of sorts, he is caring kind and very easy to talk to, but the one you met has a girlfriend as you said... he obviously was attracted to you and made that known by telling you things about his partner!! i think no matter what job people do doesn't make them bad at relationships it's more down to if they can keep it in their pants or not!!! Hope you find someone nice soon.

I don't know how car salesmen would be like as boyfriends. It depends on what they are personally like. I have read somewhere that salesmen in general tend to be more successful with women because they are used to cold-calling and getting the cold shoulder. As a result, they tend not to take rejections seriously.
The same can be applied when they meet women. They don't get discouraged like other men in life when a woman don't give them the time of day. They are used to it. They know that there are other women out there and the more "cold call" they make, the better their odds are of getting women to say yes to them.
Another reason why salesmen are successful with women is that they are masters at social skills as a necessity of their craft. They know how to talk to people with ease. They know how to turn on the charm and that is one of the things that turn women on.

Your kidding yourself by dating a car salesman. Doesn't take skills to sell except persuasion. They are in the business to make money. Remember the top salesman will trample over anyone else and they have to make their money. Your not special you are are a customer. They are trained to bullshit. The majority of them.

You can "try" and sue him for fraud but IM going to bet your not going to win. You need to talk to a regional manager or someone higher then the sales manager ASAP like as soon as you read this you need to get on the phone and chase down the top guy and set up a time to meet with him and explain what your issue is cause a lot of the time they will do whatever it takes so you don't report them to the better business bureau

he is just trying to make a good sale. don't buy his sales talk, you'll regret it in the future.
my friend gone through the same situation and she end up discovering that the girlfriend he is talking about is actually his wife. also a friend of mine who is in sales industry for 13 years, told me that the more effective you lie the more you can get clients to buy your product.
maybe he's doing the same with the other client. dont bite the bait girl.

That's his salesmen ship that you havent bought the thing you went to bought but he has sold minself to you, I think that he has good mind and sence of humar, you should enjoy your time with him but be sure that he dont sell him self to others also who comes to him for buying a car
