I know it depends on the artist but I need an average price of a tattoo. It is going to be a koi fish from about my bra strap to my hip bone, the thickest part of the fish will be like maybe 3 inches wide. I want it done in mostly black and grey with a little bit of color. I need to know an average price so I can either pay with saved up money, or start looking for a job XD

Myself I Would Charge Around £180 - £200 Depending On Detail And Exactly How Much Colour And Stuff You Wanted In....

Not Sure How That Converts Into Dollars..But Yeah They We Go

Some places charge by the hour, some places charge by the size and/or # of colours. Most places are based on hourly rates.

In a larger city, such as Toronto, the hourly rate runs at about $150/hr. In a smaller city you may be looking at roughly $80-100/hr.

As if you didn't already know, tatoos are PERMANENT. What you like today and what looks good on your body today will change in a year or in several years. There will be nothing more idiotic looking than the current generation at age 60 with "sexy" tattooed on their wrinkly hips and flabby arms. Most tats start looking smudged and dirty and are called "tramp stamps" for a good reason. Think about fifteen times before you permanently stamp your body with today's whims.
Think about it this way-- you know that special sweater or top that you loved when you were 13 but wouldn't be caught dead in now??? At least it wasn't permanently stitched to your body!!! Get a henna tatoo if you have to. People think they look bad-***, but most others just think they look stupid-***.

Most places have a sixty dollar minimum, and from there it just keeps going up. Good tattoos aren't cheap... cheap tattoos aren't good.

there's no average price - you need to ask your artist. some charge by time, some by size, some by intricacy - there's no way of calculating it i'm afraid
