I recently saw a 197 ??? Oldsmobile Omega for sale here in Belgium. I liked the body lines, and the interior bench front seat, and the dashboard with lots of dangerous knobs and chrome.
WAS there ALSO a similar Chevy? Buick? that I can try to buy while I'm in the USA sometime?

GENTLEMEN!! I have visited websites to view photos of all these suggestions. And the rear window roofline, with sloping glass is ALL WRONG??
The car in Belgium had a vertical rear window and the Omega emblem on the trunk lid. PS. I am an old American guy, and thought I knew my US cars from the 70's.

GENTLEMAN: Searching for MORE Oldsmobile photos, I now think that the car I saw is an OLDS Cutlass 1978-9?
The word "cut" in Dutch is a vulgar word, lacking the "n" from the English word!! So maybe in Belgium, the Cutlass received the OMEGA emblem??

DANIEL G: The "Omega" I saw was a 2 door with small back windows (formal?) and an upwardly curved body line behind the door. I don't remember seeing big fat bumpers of plastic. Have checked YOUTUBE for videos or photos, can you give a photo link? of the 2 door?

Ok lets start in the front of the car.. the fenders are the same from Apollo 75, Nova 75-79, Omega 75-79, Phoenix 77-79, Skylark 75-79, Ventura 75-77. The hood is 75-79 Omega only. The front bumber is Apolla 75, Omega 75-76, Skylark 75-76, and Ventura 75-76. Now the roof and rear of the car makes a big difference because of the fact that there were 4 styles of them. The 2dr hatchback, 2dr sedan w/ formal windows, 2dr sedan w/o formal windows, and a 4dr. That could be issue with the slope of the back window/roof. hope this helps

No way, I would steer clear of those cars, I did like the pre-1980 Omega's (Nova body), I thought the early 1980s Omega's were ugly, slow, gutless and unreliable cars and the same goes for the early 1980s X-body cars. I have been noticing that the early 1980s X-body cars are starting to get more scarce during the past few years. BTW GM's first front wheel drive vehicle was the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado and in 1979 the Cadillac Eldorado and the Buick Riveria switched from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive.

pontiac venture. were all the same car before they went to front wheel drive in 1980. Good luck finding one they used to be a dime a dozen.
