What hygienic measures should I take while getting an ear piercing?

I am gonna get an ear piercing thru 'gun shot' , it's quick and usually painless.

don't get it done by a gun, basically - it's not a guaranteed hygenic way of doing it (the same gun is used for everyone, and the moving and small parts can't be sterilised). if you want a professional sterilised ear piercing, get it done by a professional piercer, with a sterilised needle.

make sure that the tools and the area to be pierced is thoroughly sanitized
