I was thinking of singing either Whitney Houston's I have nothing or James Ingram's Just once
I am not sure though which one should I sing?
whitney's is powerful but james is nice and mellow with a very emotional touch
but I am a guy so james song would be better
but whitney's would be nice too because I have practiced it and have gotten pretty good at it
I really can't choose
first please tell me which one I should choose and if you have any other choices you would think I should consider
oh please write them down and I will totally check them out!!
thanks alot for your support!

Whitney songs are safe and boring because they have been done ad naseum-don't do it.
James? I don't know, but I'm guessing I'm going to be irritated.
If i'm going to be dragged to a talent show I want to be blown away not slumped commotose in my chair kwim? Stand out as the guy who didn't play sing something predictable, your audience will thank you.
I'd love to hear any one of the songs below. They are not too far away from safe and much more interesting than Whitney.

3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
The White stripes - Seven Nation Army
Augustana - Boston
Dashboard Confessional - Vindicated

:o)

Well, I think whatever from a musical could be just right. Defying Gravity - depraved (this is at the beginning a duet, but you could make it right into a solo) popular - wicked i can hear the bells - Hairspray Cooties - Hairspray I feel lovely - West side story Maria - West part story What i did for love - A refrain line One - A chorus Line On my own - Les Miserables castle on a cloud - Les Miserables Candle on the water - pete's dragon massive blonde, and stunning - Hairspray i know where i have been - Hairspray I've simply obvious a face - across the universe Blackbird - throughout the Universe otherwise you could sing a disney music When she cherished me - Toy story 2 Magic of affection - Swan Princess some distance longer than fprever - Swan princess (also a duet, which which you could exchange to a solo) and so on...... Excellent good fortune!

Out of the two? I would go with Ingram. Houston has been remade so many times, it's not even funny.

But personally, I would choose "We Intertwined" by the Hush Sound. If you're going for something slower and more emotional, they have some fantastic acoustic songs that you could choose from.

Good luck!

Edit: Sasoon, you are so right. It's a very personal and emotional song, and I only know three girls who don't like it. It's simple, yet very, very effective.

nicely, i think of a few thing from a musical may be sturdy. Defying Gravity - wicked (it particularly is initially a duet, yet you may make it right into a solo) nicely-known - wicked i will hear the bells - Hairspray Cooties - Hairspray i think tremendously - West element tale Maria - West element tale What i did for romance - A refrain line One - A refrain Line on my very own - Les Miserables fort on a cloud - Les Miserables Candle on the water - pete's dragon vast blonde, and alluring - Hairspray i be attentive to the place i've got been - Hairspray i've got merely seen a face - around the universe Blackbird - around the Universe or you ought to sing a disney music while she enjoyed me - Toy tale 2 Magic of love - Swan Princess some distance longer than fprever - Swan princess (additionally a duet, which you will substitute to a solo) and so on...... sturdy success!

Slower, more emotional:
I Will Love You by Fisher
Siren Song by Devics
In Love With A View by Mojave 3
Firefly by Greta Gaines

Faster:
The Needle Lies by Queensryche
Lift by Poets of the Fall
Poison by Alice Cooper
Ashes To Ashes by the Vinnie Vincent Invasion

Whitney has been so overdone. Do James Ingram-it's more real.

I'm not sure about that, but I suggest you should sing By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The vocalist's voice is very smooth and fast. But please, you decide.
