This happened on my last question, they totally ruined a very interesting topic directed at Christians. They spewed hatred and were really nasty. They took every opportunity to blaspheme the Lord and insult Christianity. If you are atheist, why is it that so few of you are giving the respect that you accuse others of not giving you? If a question is NOT directed at you, why do you need to jump in?

Sorry this has happened to you. I am christian too, but I am sure the same happens to atheists as well. I think a lot of people just like getting here and look for a fight and want to spew their brand of hatred, and that happens on both sides of the fence. I find it just as frustrating as you at times. I like legitimate questions from people seeking knowledge, and answers that seek to answer them fairly. Even if those who answer are atheists I can still respect that, even if I disagree with them. But those who just want to spill hatred I have no time for.

I must admit there's a nasty cloud hanging over this category, but bare in mind religions have been prooven to be male foolery. History, science and greed point out the flaws of organized religions. And yet in the face of mankind's knowledge and understanding, religions are still being woven into the fabrics of societies. It's time for a new compass, because religious direction is just plane wrong and it gets in the way of far to much progress. And frankly people are getting pissed, that so many people call this house of cards home.

Unfortunately Atheists could ask the very same of Christians. We are all born into sin & act like the humans we are at times, I have found no exceptions.

Frustrating, yes.

Tolerable, I hope so.

The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is
Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable!!

I'm not an atheist, I have another religion you've probably never even heard of, but I was probably the one who cursed the worst. I just hate people like you who are too ignorant to understand that your devotion to that false one is your own suicide. So in a way, I'm trying to help you, your just a moron.

It is just that every person wants to voice their opinion - be it good or bad. Don't take it seriously if you are looking at answers that convince you then don't bother the rest - just rate them thumbs down.
. --- Again am an atheist myself but I have nothing against anyones religious beliefs, neither do I insult anyones personal thoughts about God/ religion.

I'm not atheist but I'm not Christian either. If I am answering a Christian question (depending on what it is), I still like to answer according to the other persons' beliefs.

Why do Christians feel the need to answer questions not addressed to them? They like to answer with responses filled with hate too. We're all guilty at times. The best thing to do is not let the bad take away from the good. **HUGS**

Apparently a lot of Christians have asked the same question you have just asked. When I asked it the Atheists and Agnostics had a lot to say. However, they were not quite so rude and violently vulgar in their responses as you received here. Perhaps it's the way I asked?

I'll try to paste the link below.

It happens the other way around too, sweetheart. Why do Christians feel the need to jump all over everyone else's private business? I wouldn't say two gay people wanting to get married had anything to do with Christian people, yet they take it as a personal offense and "need to jump in."

It happens all over this board too. You will find disrespectful people of all walks of life, religions, and backgrounds here at Y!A. Either ignore it, report it when absolutely necessary, or get some thicker skin and better arguments.

You ask a very good question, I am a Christian myself and I wonder why is it that some Atheists who claim to believe in tolerance seem so intolerant of Christianity.

Hey if you don't wanna pray fine with me, but don't tell me I am not allowed to.

by the way the right to refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance was established in a Supreme Court ruling before the words Under God were ever added to the Pledge, the ruling came in 1945 in the case of the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Their refusal was not for unpatriotic reasons at all, but rather it is because they believe allegiance belongs only to Jehovah (this belief got them in concentration camps in Nazi Germany since they'd say hallo, guten tag, guten morgen, and auf weidershen instead of saying heil Hitler).

But yeah in 1945 the Supreme Court ruled that it was ok to refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance, and that was much better than the idea of banning it.

I have no problem with a person refusing to say the pledge, and I have no problem with a person refusing to pray, but I have a big problem with someone telling me that because they don't wanna pray or say the pledge, i'm not suppose to be allowed to either.

I believe we have a right to either pray or not pray, and I feel we should be able to pray to whoever we wish anytime and anywhere, whether it be to YHWH God, Jesus Christ, Allah, Buddha, Ganesh, or a Totem Pole, or whoever else you wanna name, and if you don't wanna pray, hey ok whatever, you don't have to pray.
