There are customary charges for the sacraments because so many people flat out cheated the priests over time.

The stipends are never outrageous. Our parish, for example, charges $300 for a parishioner wedding, &$500 for non-parishioner. Remember- that covers a small stipend to the priest for his time and service ( they get paid VERY little), the use of the church, and the clean up after. ( wedding parties are SLOBS)

Baptism is usually $25, again, that goes to the priest. No other sacrament involves a fee, unless is it a religious ed fee for 1st Communion or Confirmation.

Would you expect a doctor to give his sevice away for free?
A laborer is entitled to his wage. Even if you went to a JP to get married, you need to pay.

And what money would go to a convent? Nuns live there, they get donations.

I don't see a problem with that.

Wow...you mean that if you get married in the Mormon temple that teh Mormon church pays for the flowers and other decorations, the dress, the person who sings, the organist, and the little booklet that tells you who everyone is? That is pretty amazing.

Next you will tell me that they pay for the resecption.

Tell your relative the Mormons will cost him/her a lot more than the Catholics will. But their saving grace is they will help you a lot more than the Catholics.

The full seven sacraments are; Matrimony, Holy Orders, Anointing the Sick, Reconciliation, Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. This is the fullness of the Christian Faith. And they don't come with price-tags.

Where do you people keep getting this garbage about the Catholic Church?

And RED, they are Sacraments, not Commandments. And there are NO Holy Orders for Nuns and there is No Sacrament of Death. Please..... And you only have to remember two....and they aren't Baptism and Sacrament. They are Baptism and Matrimony. Please go learn a little about your own faith before trying to attack mine.

Where are you getting this information?

A lot people "shift" faiths when the get married.

The Church will accept money for marrying you......but you don't have to pay anything to "shift".

The Bible institutes only TWO commandments: Baptism and the Sacrament. The Catholics added 5 more (holy order of nuns, matrimony, death, etc). It pays better.
