It will depend on what family genes the baby gets, and what the family history is like.
It will also depend on the reasons your sister is overweight (genes, diet, medications, health issues, etc)

Babies are not born 'obese'. But babies of diabetic mothers (your sister is at risk of getting diabetes in pregnancy if she is obese) will be much bigger and have much more fat than normal babies.
Provided your sister does not develop pregnancy induced diabetes, there is no reason for her baby to be born fat.
There are probably lifestyle issues surrounding the reasons for her obesity, and it is very likely that her baby will be exposed to these, and will become an obese child. There are very few families where obesity is truly genetic. In most cases, obesity runs in families because children follow the unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits of their parents.

no, it doesn't mean the baby will be obese. but an unhealthy lifestyle by the parent can most certainly have an adverse effect on any offspring. there are genetic traits passed on from generation to generation that can not be changed but lifestyle choices can effect the epigenomes in either a positive or negative manner.

There is study which relates obesity's to a gene, but ambient factors have a big influence, by what i mean is how they raise the kid ,especially if the mom is the one cooking it means she will probably teach the kid to eat large amounts, so it all depends on how the baby is raised. Its frequent to see obese parents with obese kids for that reason .
Hope it helps!!!

Just because you are obese doesn't mean for sure that your children will be obese. Obesity comes in part from genetics, but it's mostly from a sedentary lifestyle and poor food choices.

Does she get a lot of stress? Does she eat pizza 3 times a day? What do your parents look like? These are questions you ask yourself. =)
Genetics and whatever habits she passes on will be the determining factor.
I understand your concern, but you really shouldnt take it any further. It's never a good idea to tell a woman she's fat. It's completely up to her to lose weight. And I'm sure she already knows it.
