I asked a woman I know if she would like to go out for coffee sometime. She replied she didn't like coffee. I asked what do you drink. She said water. She thanked me for asking her.

Ask her if she's like to go get a water while you get a coffee and visit a while at the coffee shop.

you went by this the wrong way.asking her does she want to go out some time is something she hears all the time.you have to distinguish yourself.make her see different than something she see everyday.oh and yes THAT WAS A REJECTION..if she is really interested it did not matter what you said she would have said yes.
so you have one more try at this this time start great conversation.make her want you then ask her somewhere different like to a club or something depends on what type of guy you are.

No, sorry hunny, she isn't interested. When she said I don't like coffee that is a big sign that she is not interested. If we were truly interested we would have said coffee would be great even if we didn't like it.

ouch!! about something original like if she like mushrooms? if the answer is:
yes just say: Great! so do I, that one thing we've got in common. About going "somewhere"(name of specific place) to grab a water together?
If she says no just use the same answer as above (even if it is not true (who cares really, the goal is to take her by surprise, maybe even make her smile or laugh, and ultimately get time later to now her better!!

Maybe she doesn't drink coffee or alcohol, then asking her out for either drink wouldn't really appeal to her.

she's too modest to say no, that's why she said she didn't like coffee. basically if a girl wants to date she will suggest something else.
