Based on the view of your arguement displayed in this yahoo question, clearly, there was little sincerity while you were reading the book of mormon. It seems to me that you either claim to have read it and felt no power in order to argue the fact the the holy ghost would answer you if read with an open heart and pure intention to understand, or you read it in a mockful manner, not taking any of the information given into consideration, only to insult the mormon religion and insult the testament of Jesus Christ. Our God is the same God as your God. The manner and literary tone you use whilst saying, "could it be that you were praying to the wrong God?" intends direct invective opinion. Doubt that you read the book of Mormon with curious ambition fill my mind and your stance seems highly uninformed. We believe in the trinity just as everyone who reads the bible does. Heavenly Father (God), Jesus Christ (Son) and the holy ghost. (or spirit) Do you know what the holy ghost is? "A person may feel the Holy Ghost in many different ways, called the fruits of the spirit and the still small voice. The Holy Ghost enters our mind and heart, which anyone can hear, but one must receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost for it to linger with them always." The gift of the holy ghost is a sacred agreement between God and us. We will recieve the gift of the holy ghost as confirmation of truth after reading with an open heart the book of mormon, the bible, AND follow the commandments of God. You must really be trying to be a good person to recieve it, for it is not a thing that just suddenly happens when you skim a few lines in the book. Many people get it in different ways and during different times. Usually it is received while reading the bible or the book of Mormon. Some say they feel a sense overwhelming peace rush through their body and it is like no other feeling they have ever felt, and when you feel it, you know it was the holy ghost. People who have felt this say often, "and when it happened, I knew it was true." There are random internet-goers that post their experiences with the holy spirit, and you can read how it is that they felt it. The way you approach the subject of Mormonism is very ridicule. Mormons are christians, and to tell you the truth, we're the closest thing to it. "Book of Mormon Evidences discusses some of the factors that suggest the Book of Mormon may be an ancient document. Contrary to the claims of our critics, there are impressive findings that make it difficult to explain away the Book of Mormon as a nineteenth-century fraud from Joseph Smith. Such evidence is not "proof" but represents indications of plausibility that demand further attention." If the book of Mormon is fraud, who made up the history and why? You could rip the title page off, "Book Of Mormon," and it would be complete history without bias of religion. It is another testament of Jesus Christ and I know in my heart that it is true. The reason why Mormonism is an elite religion is because it has everything God wants us to know. People who are strictly by the bible are missing a lot of the history that should be in it, but people forget the bible was handled by actual people and rewritten by actual people. Believe it or not, there were things that were cast out. I sincerely urge you to try it again this time, with true intention, and read it slowly. It takes just as much concentration and rereading as it does to take reading the Bible. I swear by everything I know, that you WILL feel the holy spirit and you WILL know the truth if you follow the commandments and read it again with honest concentration. The gift of the holy ghost is unlike anything anyone has ever felt and you will know when you feel it.

No it's not wrong,.. I have shared some things with a young door to door Morman and he was swaying toward some of the Scriptures that i brought up,......but his older counter part would not allow this,..............you must understand that these kids have been brought up on this all their natural lives,.........it can harm them if your not prepared to be there to build them up continually,.......i guess the question is are you willing to be there for the long hall if they receive your word of truth.........otherwise you could do much harm,...the good thing is they believe in Christ and do the will of him,..........I believe when Christ does come back this religion and many others will be shown the whole truth.....Remember we have a merciful God.
There will be many Churches that will get a chistisement when he returns.......But i thank God for his mercy.....for he does try the reins of a man's heart....so there ignorance will not hold to strong against them.Remember the 7 Churches in the first 3 chapter in the book of Revelations,.....The Lord was only completely happy wih two out of the 7......but none the less there was still some good in the other 5 churches.
God will judge righteous!! We can rest in that!
Peace my sister in the Lord.

No. It isn't wrong to tell anyone the truth. Here you may find help: http://www.christiananswers.net/evangelism/beliefs/cults.html It appears most answers here are refering to Mormons in general. The word "they" is used loosely by both sides. I have a unique hatred for the word "they"; it has no individuality. Perhaps you have in mind a particular friend, which doesn't really matter; EVERYONE is an individual not a they.
Perhaps your friend might listen to you but not to me. I would not hestitate to tell anyone the truth, but gentleness and respect should also be part of any friendship. Here is a quote from Charles Spurgeon on the subject matter:
Ho, ho, sir surgeon, you are too delicate to tell the man that he is ill! You hope to heal the sick without their knowing it. You therefore flatter them; and what happens? They laugh at you; they dance upon their own graves. At last they die! Your delicacy is cruelty; your flatteries are poisons; you are a murderer. Shall we keep men in a fool's paradise? Shall we lull them into soft slumbers from which they will awake in hell? Are we to become helpers of their damnation by our smooth speeches? In the name of God we will not. It becomes every true minister of Christ to cry aloud and spare not, for God hath set a day in which he will "judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." As surely as Paul's gospel was true the judgment will come.
In His Service,
John the Baptist

No, I don't believe it's wrong. Jesus came to tell us the truth. He said that "The truth will make you free". I think though, that it is wrong, as the Bible says, to get into stupid arguments.
Jesus shared the love of God with LOVE, not a baseball bat. The only time, recorded, that I can recall, is when He was angered at the merchants who were selling animals in the temple for sacrifice. They were also cheating their customers which He also took exception to. He turned over their tables in anger and told them in no uncertain terms that His house is a "house of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of thieves!"
Justifiable anger is not a sin. Justifiable anger is anger that is felt when SOMEONE ELSE is being harmed.
Getting back to your question, No, it isn't wrong, Hon. The scripture says to tell them twice, and walk away. It's up to the listener to make his/her own choice. We can always continue to pray for them, but after you share, stand back, let them ponder it...you've at least planted a seed even if you don't see the harvest. It's coming....

An anti-Mormon site, how original. Can the Christians come up with anything that isn't "anti" something?
One of the reasons people hate America is because of the modern Christians. Most people have no problem with Jesus or Christianity, just with Christians. Somewhere since the time of Christ they have lost site of "love thy neighbor" and embraced the "hate everything that isn't mine and pound the table until everyone understand they are condemned unless they believe what I know". To my knowledge, Jesus never said that nor did he tell his disciples to go out and do such things.
Please, save yourself first, then save the rest of us.

You should always tell the truth, but you might want to check your facts before you do so.
Mormons believe that Christ died for their sins and strive to follow His example. You can't get more Christian than that.
Offering new definitions to Christianity and deliberately misusing pejorative words like "cult" is a circus trick used by paid ministers to keep their clients in their houses of worship.
As noted by CS Lewis, anyone who reads the Bible should believe that we have the potential to become like our Heavenly Father, as illustrated in the following New Testament Scriptures:
Philippians 3:14, Romans 8:17, Acts 17:29, Galatians 4:7, Revelations 3:21
Mormons wear sacred garments to help them remember covenants they made with God to follow His commandments and be righteous saints. Only a bigot would criticize a Jewish prayer shawl, Muslim hijab or sacred Mormon garment.
To read what Mormons really believe, look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's web-page, talk to a neighbor who is Mormon, or ask a missionary. If you want to hear a misleading version, feel free to ask a leader of another faith who derives his income from being chargeable to his parishioners, or talk to the usually well-meaning members of his faith who were misled.

I look at it this way.I dont beleive in what their beliefs are as one day being equal to God,or God like, but then to a person of Jewish faith,My Catholicism is a cult.Ive worked for people in the Mormon faith and most have been family valued, straight shooters.I dont hold or judge their religion, and I hope they treat me with the same understanding and respect.

Thanks.... but your source is not truthful at all. If you seek for antis in any religions, you will find a lot of misinformed facts... now, if you try to find the REAL good sources for any religions, you will find the truth facts and what proves that religion right. No religion should be put down. Would Jesus do that? NO
Now, when talking about your religion.... Why don't you use the information given in web-sites that do not support your religion and only give bad information about it? -> that is what you are doing to ours. If you want cool and right sources go to http://www.lds.org or http://www.mormon.org
We know about the real Jesus already unless you have another.
"Probed" I think is supposed to be "proVed" .... I barely know English because it's my 2nd language so I might be wrong?
Magic is used in Harry Potter, not in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints.

saving someone from being hit by a car and telling someone their beliefs are wrong are quite different.
they have the same right that we all have to believe, or not, as we wish. there are people out there that think your beliefs aren't true, but they're your beliefs and you are entitled to them.
we all need to be a little more tolerant of others.
